Can I swap a Lincoln Mark VIII 4.6 4v into a Mustang chasis?? Will there be transmission issues? I know i'll need a new k-member... But what else needs to be done if it can be to make this happen?

That should be an easy swap. If you already have a modular mustang you dont need to change the K member. The Mark engine is the same as an 96-98 Cobra except for the cams and intake.

You'll need the 4V brake booster to make it fit. The GT's 2V canister takes up too much room and will end up being in the way. You'll likely have to swap out to the Mustang oil pan as well.

The bottom end is a little different too. The Mark VIII comes with a nodular iron crank, where the Cobra's is forged.

Thanks for the info! The rotating assembly will likely be changed to all forged anyway. Just wanted to know if there were major differences in the block and heads. Cams will also be changed along with upper intake manifold. I have a 4.6 2v block but i want the alum block and 4v heads.

since you'll tear the block apart, you going to change tranny's as well?

Thinking of a tremec. The car this is going into is a theft recovery 1997 GT. with no drivetrain *transmission, engine, front k-member or driveshaft*. I'll still have my 94 5.0 but i really want a 4v turbo car. Eventually though i'll sell my 94. Maybe??

Might want to consider getting 99+ 4V heads as well. Wiring that 4V in, well it won't be fun. That will probably be you greatest challenge. You will definitely need a tune from somebody who knows especially if you use the 98 and older 4V heads to get the IMRC's to work.

you could still pick-up IMRC deletes

i'd say go with a TKO 500/600 since you want turbo.

A used Aviator 4V would be a great canidate for your swap. Get a tubular K member and stock 01+ 5 speed trans. Then look for a donor ECU and harness from a GT with a few splices and then a tune youd have a strong 4V combo.
