drove a lincoln ls v8 2005 can get it for a good price any of you guys have any experiance with the lincoln LS series ? seemed pretty fast & looks sharp like a BMW I was thinking with all the badges removed it could make a nice machine .............

LS's are nice machines and fairly reliable. They do have their quirks though. Something with the headlights randomly not working, wipers randomly turning on and temperature problems. Keep on top of their cooling system. They are good about not wasting money on mods as there are no mods available for them other then a cat back and wheels. Lincoln VS Cadillac is a good place to go for LS info.

I heard they have reliablity problems. Someone posted on here a year or two ago about them. I think the 4.2 is Jaguar based or something. I would stay away from them.

Parts are expensive and if you debadge it people will think its a Galant, not a 5 series.

dont like badges

thanks for the LS site , a Galant I dont think so...... removing the badges on lots of cars is a big improvement one guy has an older Maxima works in a body shop he removed the silly wing removed all trim badges etc repainted it & put nice rims & tires ... everyone who see's it loves & have no idea it was once a Maxima its an early 90's model ....... another guy has a Acura did the same thing looks extra sharp & there is no telling what it is .... I think its a ts or tc maybe a 05 ... back in the day removing all hood ornaments trim & other stuff is what most hot rodders did even before working the motors its not to make it look like something else like a BMW if I had the money & a M5 or M6 I would remove the badges also ......... if I get the LS & have everything done I'll post a picture I think it may look sharp ..... for an expensive car they sure have no resale value & they are not slow with V8 ............

It's a small market that wants a V8 in an american 4 door sedan. Of course I fall into that market, but I never claimed to be normal. I never saw a car though that I thought would look better with the badges removed.

I see them in our shop all the time with all kinds of problems. Mostly intake and valve cover gaskets. Parts are expensive and I've had many a tech tell me to just stay away from them... If I remember right I think the engines in them were Jaguar based engines ?

The removing the badges thing seems to be a popular trend with the kids....mainly the import crowd.

Again, not trying to be insulting....just making an observation.

OP:
Common issues are:
1. The FEM and REMs. They controll all kinds of stuff so when a window does something weird or the locks lock and unlock themselves randomly or the wipers go on then one of the five of the modules has failed.
2. Transmition solinoid shift pack. If the transmition shudders and you know the coil packs are good then its the next issue.
3. Coil packs.
4. Cooling issues. These cars run hot and their fans die. The fan still spins but not fast enough. Also many owners are starting to cut up the plastic cowl under the wipers and have dropped under hood temps by 60*+.
5. Advance trac modules or the sensors for them. You lose ABS and traction controll.
6. The V-6 tend to blow head gaskets and the V-8 seems to kill intake gaskets.
7. All parts are expensive, every one.

If you want a fast, cheap and reliable 4-door then *puts on flame suit* get an Audi A6 2.7T. 90% of the parts are the same cost or cheaper then Mustang parts and the cars are very reliable and with a chip and exhaust they will make 330-350 hp.
I see 02-04 versions with 50-70K on them for under $8500 all the time. Its 20x the car the LS is. AWD and Turbos make for a fun sure footed car. Much nicer interior too and as I said, the parts are cheap and most repairs are easy.
Audi puts beauty covers over everything so all you do is remove 3-4 plastic screws and the major components are easily accesable. Hell, I swapped turbos on my old S4 in an afternoon taking many beer breaks.

Would I buy a Lincoln LS? No. Friend of mine had one, problem after problem with them. I even owned a Lincoln Mark 8 and had issues with them. Lincoln is one of those cars i'd only own in warranty. When it runs out....sell!

I do not think a Lincoln would be appropriate for you OP. Gas and maint will be too expensive. The total cost of ownership will be too high. Also, Lincolns tend to have a lot of electronics that tend to break. Do not make your young life all about a stupid car. Get basic transportation and once you make a life and a career for yourself then get something nice.

If you are looking for something like that Audi or a Lincoln LS, search for an Infiniti M series, like the M45 or the Q45.
They are a nice sleek looking sedan with a 4.5 L V8. If you are spending more than like 20k the M is better, but otherwise you can find a q in the 7k range and still have Nissan reliability and money left over for things like springs/rims/sounds.

thanks for all the input guys the LS was sold just as well funny thing while I was looking about I was amazed at what the last of the Camaro SS are bringing in ...like real big bucks well over $20,000 for a clean low milage one ! I thought the Supra's were worth some money but they were expensive when new ... guess there is no figuring out the car game ...back to the Yankee game
