Line lock questons

I have a jegs LL, its plumbed but not wired up (just lazy and more important thing to worry about right now).

I rummaged threw a few part "bins" at advanced, autozone, o'rlys, and napa to get the fittings that go from bubble flare (our line type at the MC) to reg. flare/double flare. I bought 2 pieces of 7 or 8in hard line and bent it up and installed it. The linelock I had already had the fittings at the noid for double/reg flare ends.

Bleed the system after your done incase you didnt know too (just covering bases)

wow i didn't realize LL kits were so cheap!!!! i was looking into transbrakes and was getting really discouraged at the high prices....i am really interested in a LL now.....how hard are they to install and any walk thru's???

I dont think they are worth the effort to install unless you intend on doing ALOT of burnouts, burnouts are easy to do so why go thru the effort of messing with the brake system
also from what ive read we require some harder to find fittings than other MC setups

I still have an AODE in the car and even I'm interested. All it takes is burning up your rear end clutch pack ONE time to figure out our rear brakes will over heat the fluid in the back. Not good... and not fun. :nonono:

summit sells a kit. i've had it sitting in my garage for almost 2 years now waiting to go on.

This looks like the kit i got but this one says it doesn't come with the tubing where mine did...

FYI though, you can't run the SLP one for the 99+ unless you change your brake system to the 99+ PBRs too.

Here's the extra kit: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM-G3904&N=700+0&autoview=sku

Also for those asking, instructions are posted on the first link.

I have the Summit kit, and it was really pretty easy to install. My car doesn't have ABS, so it was simple to remove the factory front brake line from the MC and plumb in the line lock. I put it right on the driver's side strut tower. If I get a chance tonight I'll take a couple pics and post 'em for ya to look at my dirty car.

I have a Moroso on my car. The main reason for running the Moroso was because it's rebuildable. Nothing sucks worse than getting in the middle of a race and finding out your line lock doesn't work anymore!

so the jegs kit and the extra line kit still puts me under a 100 dollar mod and it seems like a good investment for me with the auto...seems like it would help out great at the track when i go....what are some negatives to a line loc??

I have a Hurst line lock. Works good. I had a shop install it, too lazy. I also got the Summit installation kit & not sure if it had all the necessary fittings.
I installed it to make it easier with a manual, save the rear brakes, clutch and rear. Plus easier.

im in the same boat so i wanna know too... i guess it wouldn't make to much sense though because i will still need to hold the brakes otherwise waiting at the line im just going to be burning the tires off if i dont hold the brakes..

Of course you can use it on your automatic ABS or no-ABS. Here's how it will go for you:

-Stop the car and keep it in Drive or 1st.
-Now you gotta PUMP the break pedal til it is very hard to push in. Its ready. So KEEP it pushed in.
-Flick your switch(on/off switch) or use the switch they give you with your kit which you need to hold it ON for it to work.
-Release your brake pedal and still hold the switch ON.
-At this point, you dont have any brakes in the rear, only the front will hold you in place.
-Do your burnout in 1st I guess. Depending of your gearing/rpm you might need to shift the tranny to 2nd gear.(maybe 3rd for all I know)
-When there's enough smoke :D and your tires are sticky release your button/switch that you're still holding and the stang will start to move forward.

Enjoy.:nice:
