Okay, I've always heard its kind of normal whenever you punch it and a little smoke comes out, because its built up carbon, right? Well anyways, I've had a couple times where friends have told me I've had a little bit of black smoke come out the back whenever I hammer it, it usually happens when I downshift and punch it. What I don't really understand is I was already getting on it pretty hard before that, wouldn't all the carbon be cleaned out already? Should I be worried about this?

I hope the engine isn't worn. I know the car has been beat on pretty good. The first owner liked to take it to the track, and hes the one who put the mods on it. It was older guy though, but who knows. It's got 51,000 miles. If there is engine problems with this car I'm going to sell it.

I wouldn't worry about it. Ecspecially if it is black smoke. Could be carbon, could be running a little rich. If it makes you feel better do a compression test to see if the rings are worn. I doubt you will find anything, just hammer it until it breaks then build it back bigger and better.

Thanks, the guys at modulardepot said not to worry about it, so hopefully its not a big deal. I'm curious what would cause it to run rich though, I don't have any big mods.

There are alot of things that could cause it to run a little rich. If it is it probably isn't by much. I see in your list of mods that you have an x-pipe, is it catted or not and if not, do you have something to eliminate the o2 sensors?

Have an X pipe but it has cats.
