Well I am SO glad I decided to keep my turbo and work the issues out because it's finally running good aside from needing a dyno tune. It idles great, doesn't want to die coming to a stop, revs good, and drives perfect under normal driving conditions. However, if you try to get into any boost it will detonate so dyno tune here I come. So overall I am extactic.

So today I decided to call to get some information about getting a tune. I had two places in mind I wanted to go and they were Alternative Auto. owned by Lidio and Livernois Motorsports, both located a couple hours from me across the state. I started out calling Livernois even though I know three people who have been screwed by them in the past. Things ranging from them jacking the car up in the wrong spot and bending the crap out of the front fender, to f-ing up my friends side exhaust on his Cobra, to all three people having appointments and them showing up and Livernois acting as if they had no idea who they were. Aside from all of that I still decided to give them a try since they are a big name in the industry.

So I gave them a call and talk to the guy for a couple minutes telling him about my car, seeing how far out they were for scheduling, how much it would cost, etc. Turns out they were 2 weeks out and said I would have to leave it there for a week, which I was hoping I wouldnt have to do since its across the state. So then I told him I was just starting to look around at places and was curious how they differed so I asked him how they compared to Alternative. His reponse was to promptly hang up on me. I couldn't believe it. What AMAZING customer service, yet I cannot say I am surprised at all given what I know of them dealing with my friends.

I proceeded to call Alternative and left a message for them to call me back. Probably ten minutes later I get a call from Lidio himself. He was VERY nice and helpful explaining in depth about their tuning and about my setup and everything I wanted to know. He was very interested in my car and what my plans were and had genuine interested in our conversation. It was a complete 180 degree turn from Livernois. Not to mention his price was 100 dollars cheaper and he said I could drop it off at 8 am and it would be ready by noon. I was sold and now have an appointment on August 7th. Long story short, customer service and actually having an interest in your customers goes a LONG way and Alternative just gained a customer for doing so. With that said, NEVER DEAL WITH LIVERNOIS MOTORSPORTS!!!!

Dude there's nothing that screams redneck more than some chump who just hangs up on you. I've had that happen a few times since I always call around before having something done or picking stuff up. By the time I reach someone decent I mentioned who it was who hung up and the response is always along the lines of 'that's a good thing, he would have ripped you off'. And that's the sense I get afterward anyway.

By doing so, they are honest enough to tell me they are crooks (oxymoron) so I say THANKS for hangin up on me.

Yup, I went there it what a mess that was.

I made an appointment for a saturday weeks in advance and was told that I could wait there a few hours while they tune it and drive the car home. So I call the Friday before and confirm my appointment before making the 2.5hr drive. So I get there Saturday about 10-15 min early and they were instantly a pain in the ass. The attitude from the guys at the front desk was ridiculous. They tried telling me that they don't make appointments for Saturdays and I would have to leave it there for a week. When I explained what I had discussed on the phone and who I talked to, they said well so and so shouldn't have told you that. I was pissed. I couldn't leave my car there anyways, since I drove it there and had no ride home.

So the guy went to the back to talk to the tuner and I waited about 45min in the front and then he comes out to tell me again that they couldn't do it today and they had a lot of other things to work on. WHAT KIND OF APPOINTMENT IS THIS??

I then ask to talk to the tuner, so they let me in the back and once again he tells me he can't do it today and doesn't even stop what he's doing while talking to me and certainly does not try to appologize. I started to get even more pissed and he finally asked for my keys, grabbed them out of my hands and walked outside. I then heard him take my car in the back and about 45min later I could hear him making pulls, while not even letting me back there.

He comes out a while later and says I have an ignition miss and he's done all he could since it was like 11am at this point since they dicked me around forever. The tuner told me to pay for the whole two hours of tuning even though he did about an hour and told me to call him back after I figure out the miss and he'll finish the tune. So while checking out, I asked if I could get something in writing saying this and the guy said, well that is between you and him (the tuner), so togh luck. Not to mention I got no dyno sheet after asking for one and had no clue what my A/F was at.

In the end, I refused to go back (which I tried, but the tuner ended up quiting right after etc.) and ended up with a very bad tuning experience at Livernois.

Pretty sure Livernois is hurting pretty bad, a few shops closed but think their main one is still open. But I agree that phone was pretty bad. Glad Lidio stepped up.

Yea i've heard LOVE IT or HATE IT stories come outta that place. I think the hard part is actually doing the work....turning the wrenches. Customer service is easy! You gotta deal with people anyway, so if u make the customer happy, then they arent gonna bitch back and everyone will be happy.

I honestly dont think Livernois is out to make money in that market. Their foundation is the part of the company that works with Ford etc testing/engineering/designing stuff.

Good luck with Lidio, heard nothing but good stuff about him. Maybe one day i'll check him out if needed. Mind sharing how much he quoted u?

If you arent heading straight back home after, i'd love to see the car!

Livernois was also the same company that screwed Oink over on an engine. IIRC, it was something like the wrong pistons, so his compression ratio was off for on his New Edge SN that he put the turbo on. I'd have to do some searching to find the thread, but I do rememeber it being Livernois.

He told me $550 or a max of $600. Livernois said $700, but they were going to throw in their phenomenal customer service so maybe I should have gone with them.

So my dyno tune is just under 2 weeks away and I have been thinking about what I want my car to make power wise. My good buddy rio95 has virtually the exact same setup as I have aside from his turbo being a 62mm and mine being a 70mm. With his car he ran around 15 pounds of boost making in the neighborhood of 525 rwhp all through his stock t-5. Even making that much power his t-5 still held on for a year and a half before it blew up. With that being said although I would like to (and easily could) make 500 rwhp, I think i am going to make the wise choice and run a conservative 10 psi until I can afford to upgrade the tranny and clutch.

My setup includes milled E7s, tfs stage 1 cam, gt40 intake, intercooled masterpower 70mm turbo setup, and all the crap to go along with it. I am hoping to make between 400-420 rwhp, which I really don't see being a problem unless something is messed up with the motor I don't know about. At 15 psi I expect the car to break 500 rwhp without a sweat. My ultimate goal for this car is not too crazy, but I would like to get a block and build a decent 331 stroker, keep the same turbo setup, and max out my T-70 and hopefully put down around 650 rwhp.

Maybe I should just focus on getting it tuned in 2 weeks hahaha.

Good choice on Going to lidio. He tuned my car as well. I live 10 minutes from his new shop. Livernois has a bad rep that seems to be getting worse. I've heard of them tuning cars and making them run will lean and pushing the motor to much. Lidio is the complete opposite. He does a more consevative tune. Livernois closed their one shop becuase of summit

I wish man. I forgot to post this, but last week the car kept on getting hot so I put some more water in it then it got hot again so I put more in it figuring sinse it hasn't been run that much it was just needing more as it circulated into the system. Well go figure the oil pan was full of coolant. So, we are quite sure its just an intake gasket that went so that wil be getting fixed soon and then the tune will probably come in a couple weeks. Just a minor set back. Such is life.

Funny you posted that though cause tonight I was thinking, yep, coulda been going to alternative tomorrow. Ah well.

damn man, sorry to hear that.

Let me (us) know when you get it rescheduled. I've never seen a car on a dyno in person, would love to see what yours puts down

Yeah I will post up when I get it rescheduled. I wouldn't expect anything too amazing. The setup is obviously capable of some significant power, but I want to save my tranny for awhile and just run around 10 psi. I am hoping for around 400-415 rwhp. We'll see. Then after a new tranny and clutch crank it up and blow past 500

Saving your tranny at 400hp? That will eat the T-5 alive if it lasts more than a few runs.
