I bought the ignition kit from performancedistributors.com and they told me to gap my plugs at .060. Is this smart? I know the stock goes at .054 but since i got a hotter coil, is .060 alright or not?

thanx

Plug gap, IMO, doesn't make a damn bit of difference when you are talking a few thousandths difference in NA applications.

NASCAR doesn't gap their plugs.

Your thinking is correct though, and you could get away with it (0.060" gap) as long as you have a quality set of wires and plugs.

the theory is that it takes a stronger spark to jump the gap. the stronger the spark, the better the fuel is burned. the better the fuel burns, the more power.

i had them on my last car, a 1996 GT. i never noticed any difference at all, which is why i am now of the opinion that it is not worth it unless you are pushing some serious air through the engine.
