locating tops of rear shocks with a 'bar' ??

Im wondering if this would have any benefit...kind of like a rear strut tower brace behind the seat of my coupe.

Connecting the tops of the shocks (where they bolt to) to each other with a bar.


Opinions?

Interesting idea, were you thinking about a 2-inch wide strip of 0.25 steel plate or something?

It seems you'de have to do it from underneath to see much rigidity improvement, and I don't think it could be flat if you did that.

I dnuno, i have just seen some late model people running a rear shock tower brace. I can pick up some 1.5 or 2" steel tubing. I didnt think about running it underneath. I know the late model guys run them up top.

This would have no benifit.

The reason you see honda's with these braces is because they have a rear shock tower. Not the case with a mustang.

Even the front brace is there because of the torque put on he towers by the suspension...not becasue of the shocks.

I don't see why you would need a brace for the rear end of a classic stang, I mean, the solid rear axle isn't going to flex any.

i could see his point.. if you were running a 4 link maybe.. just to aid in side to side deflection.. but your shocks really aren't going to move

I think he ment the other end of the shock. What's in that pic looks like an anti-sway bar to me.
