Well I have the Mr Gasket locking cylinderical style in my room but I have heard they do not actually hold the hood down they are for locking it only.

Now my question is ive been running my fibgreglass hood now for a year and havent had any problems (knock on wood) but my hood does wiggle at the sides at higher speeds.

So I want pins. I will KEEP MY STOCK LATCH, will these Mr. Gasket locking style help hold the hood down? I have heard of many ppls flying up but I dont know if they kept the stock latch. I would also be very anal about checking to make sure they are properly locked and hood is properly secured.

There is also the old school style like this:
http://www.cobranda.com/GetItemDetail.asp?ItemID=14595&CatID=651&DeptID=17

Anyone know if they make a similar one that will work on a modern stang? I just dont like the look of the FRPP style sticking up outa the hood with the cotter pin.

THANK YOU!

From what I have been reading the locking ones are just to help people from getting in. Not so structural to keep the hood on in case the stock latch fails. What happens to the fiberglass hoods is that it bows and shimmys enough for the stock latch to pop off. I think they put a warning on the package against using these to secure your hood.

I did and would go pin style..taking a chance on a glass hood was not something I was willing to do. The hoods flex and distort at speed and MAY decide to head south on ya..and expensive accident that can ruin your whole day.

Look for stainless steel pins. The chrome on all others will flake, peel, and rust over time.

Locking pins would be better suited to when you're using a total of four pins for a lift-off hood, and have them holding down the back end of the hood where it won't have to deal with as much wind-lift force. Stainless steel pins with the flip-over hoop end are the best choice for keeping things secured and lookin' good.

how about putting regular stainless steel hood pins on it to keep the hood in place and also keep the stock safety latch on it to keep unwanted people from getting under your hood?
