Why are long tubes not legal ? I mean if you run an x pipe with cats and o2 sensors and all. Shorties aren't worth putting on and we have emissions testing here. The secret is to have cats and not throw a code. I'm new to the new mustangs, the last one I had was a 68 gt with a 428, so I'm going to need some schooling on the new stuff. I did have a focus st, but they were all kids on the focus forums, as I'm 48, I didn't really fit in. Decided to go back to my roots and since the new stangs look old school, it was a perfect fit. I'm more comfortable around the mustang crowd than the fast and the furious.

The long tubes with catted pipes are legal usually unless noted. For the most part everyone that adds long tubes also goes with a H or X pipe that doesn't have cats on it.Welcome to the S197's as I joined up after having a 71 Mustang convertible and trying to drive a Tiburon after that. I had to come "home" just for the power and fellow mustang crowd! These are some great guys with some good advice, stang net rules!

I think you should look into state law and see what the laws are for Cat's. I know here in Oregon (Portland) we have emission's but aslong as I have cat's I'm good.
I have heard others mention it is illegal to even move the cat's but I think that depends on the state and if they really care.
