long tube headers o/r h

will a 79-93 long tubes fit on a 94-95 mustang, i kno that the bolt pattern is the same jus wondering if they would fit? if not anyone make recommendations on where to get long tubes from?

don't flame jus give me a link to a thread already open cause i would assume this is a popular question.

I don't believe so, because I believe that it interferes with the steering assembly.

If you got a t5 then search over on the Corral using the name of Glenn.

IIRC he has done it with a t5 trans car.

The clutch fork on fox's are at a different "clock" location than ours. Some companies have different designs for each year...but some like Accufab only have one that fits all 5.0's. But i think bbk and mac have 2 different designs so i doubt it will fit.

I tried a set of fox BBK long tubes on my car and had interference issues with the k-member and clutch fork on the drivers side, however the passenger side fit like a glove.

I've "heard" of people making them work. But I've never exactly understood what they did to get them to fit.

I had both sets of MAC brand longtubes at the same time....one set for a '94/5, another for a fox, and was able to compare them both.

The passenger side were exactly the same, but the drivers side were routed a bit different. On the fox model, the front 2 primaries bent down toward the frame and around the steering shaft, whereas the sn95 model had all the primaries on the engine side of the steering shaft.

I have a TKO-600 with an SFI bell and shorter clutch fork and both sets fit fine. It may be different with a stock sn95 tranny setup.

i have a 5spd

well thank you guys for the fast responses and yes i'm new to stangnet's forums, my past vehicle i would of tried the headers and made everything work, have been down that road and decided i will pay the price and get something thats going to fit.

Now my next question is that a friend of mine is selling 1 3/4" mac headers with 3" collectors 94-95. I'm worried that since macs products are not solid one piece flanges and i'm going to be fighting with the headers to get them on due to possible warping.

the other thing is on an entirely bolt on motor do you thing that 1 3/4" headers are too big?

I agree....headers tend to be "over board" when are bigger than the size of the exhaust valve. George klass who works at Accufab with their custom headers explained this to me. He said to think of it like an hour glass....it doesnt matter how big the bottom of the glass is. What matters is the middle section that the sand is passing through. So theres not much need for a primary thats a lot bigger than the valve itself. Its just a basic idea of how to think about exhaust systems....

then 1 5/8" long tubes it will be. I notice way to many people buying shorties and upgrading to long tubes. looks like watsed money to me.

Also has anyone purchased long tube mac's and received them warped?

We also call youir hourglass theory a bottlenecked flow.

I have many ricer friends with 4" intakes but don't understand when i tell them 3" would make jus as much power, because at that point their throttle body is the smallest entry point and will only flow as much as it TB will allow.

From what i hear Mac's are good the first time. But its when u take them off and try to put them back on when they are a pain. I dont know for sure as i have never had them. I only have experience with BBK and Accufab.

I agree with you about your friends. Some people say if the intake is bigger than the TB it will make a "funnel" and make the air have a higher velocity. Im not sure if it helps or not. Probably not.
