i have a set of BBK long tube headers and i was wondering if do you really have to drop the front cross member to install them? i have also heard that if you just unbolt the mtr mounts and raise the mtr about 2" you can install them, is that true?
I dropped the K member and raised the motor to install my headers. I have BBK shorty's though. think about replacing the motor mounts wile it's apart. I have heard LT's are easier to install as far as getting to the header bolts to tighten. the tubes are more spreed out and not on top of each other like shorty's.

How long did it take you roughly? I'm planning to do the same with my buddies 02 GT. I thought about using my cherry picker and just lifting and pushing it high enough but were just looking to getting it over and done with the right way and fast at the same time. That way looks great though.
On my 04 Mach I had to. There was no squeezing the pass side header in, we tried to loosen it up and drop it a little--didnt work, still not enough room. If i had it to do over again I would have bought the tubular k member and installed it at the same time. Overall I want to say it took me and my buddy about 2-3 hrs using a lift, air tools and a transmission jack. I would not recommend doing it without a lift though.
Edit: The oil dipstick tube was a PITA to get back in place!
