Long tubes or Shorties?

Hey guys, my father in law has a stock 95 convertable. He has changed the gears to 3.73 but that is all for performance mods. He wants to buy some headers this winter and was wondering if he should spend the extra money for longtubes?

He doesn't plan on doing any major mods to the car. Just wants to make it sound a little meaner and pick up a few extra ponies.

Any suggestions?

Since he is looking mostly for sound and a little more power I would go with shortys.

Everything fits up to them just like stock stock exhaust manifolds. No 02 cooling probs during idle cause they don't move from stock location. Shortys are smog legal and have no need for 02 extenders.

If he was looking for max power then sure, I'd say go for the lt's.

another vote for shorties, off road x pipe, and straight through mufflers... even though I dig my two chamber flows, i'm seriously contemplating dynomax race bullets.

and if he's more interested in sound, then tell him to replace the mid pipe before he does anything, then the cat back.

now that I think about it, the mid-pipe will pick up more ponies for him as well. While the pro-chamber does give about 5 more ponies, the o/r X and H sound better IMO.
