Trying to adjust my idle. I did it using the screw on the left...but then I was told there's another way and someone mentioned something about a "plug".

I have circled this white plug with an arrow going to it. If you pull that plug out, there looks to be a screw in it...what does that do?

Thanks for the explanation on the simple question.

you would use the one on the right, but be EXTREMELY CAREFUL!!! my buddy did mine, and it just took a few minutes to get perfect, but he said that it has taken him a couple hours on some cars because the owners really jacked it up for him in the beginning, use the right plug!!! just pop it off and it should take a small allen wrench.

ok, I used the left one a while back, and now I have hanging RPMs... do I just keep fidling w/ that screw until it no longer hangs? I didn't touch anything else... figured stock idle is better than no idle at all

NEVER USE THE ONE ON THE LEFT! Leave it alone... Whenever my dad messed with that one, I could literally start driving, let off the gas completly and my car would not slow down. Use the right one to adjust the idle but go a little bit at a time.

The one on the left will open the throttle plate with every turn. You should be able to stick a peice of paper in there, close the throttle plate and pull the paper out without tearing it. The one on the right turns the idle up or down by using air. When you turn the screw to the right (or down) it will lower the idle. Of course the other way will turn it up.

Only purpose of screw on left is to keep throttle plate from sticking in the closed postion. You should crank it down to where you can put a .020 feeler gauge between it, then turn it either 1/2 or 1 full turn (cant remember for sure) I had terrible surging problems when I messed with that screw, and luckily the guys on here set me straight.
