So what's going to happen when cold water hits a hot turbo.

I'm actually intrigued.... assuming you relocated the filter, would this actually work well?

ROFL!!!! ok guys I have seen this turbo in person... STAYYYY AWAAYYYY

this is a joke. first off he is using a small aircraft turbo that doesnt even support the power a N/A 4.6L makes... second he has no clue what he is doing with it.

lets just say he put the turbo on and went SLOWER!!!

like 17.5's ROFL!!

if ya dont believe me look at the plate and compare to my location

this thing is a joke!

Self lubricating?? So after the turbo reaches a certain temp and the oil just starts burning what happens?

And like someone else said, what happens when that hot ass turbo sees some cold ass water?

how would water be different than dumping a bag of ice on your turbo at the track?

who the **** dumps a bag of ice on their turbo? you wont run faster times by dumping ice on the compressor housing, especially since it will be back to running temps seconds after startup. and you sure in the hell would not see any gains by cooling the exhaust side of the turbo.

secondly, if i had a rear mount turbo setup, or any FI application, i would only drive the car in the best of weather, let alone in the rain or through puddles.

when the turbo heats the airflow over it cools the oil, just like in your oil pan of your engine, so thats a moot point.

and you dont dump ice in a turbo, you dump it into a air to water intercooler... dont know where you heard that one.

Remote turbo's are nice, from what I know, and my experiance around them(rarely). They have to be done a lot nicer than that for me to be really intrigued though, I must admit.

STS makes some nice rear-mount kits. A friend of mine has one on his F-body; been running great for years.

That, however, looks like a raging POS.

I'm fairly sure the oil in your engine cools down easier though due to the larger quantity...1 qt (I'm assuming thats what 1 turbo takes?) would heat up VERY quick I think with a turbo. Having 6qts flow through it constantly still makes them red hot at times, I can only imagine a single non-flowing qt would start frying pretty quick if you stayed in high boost for long periods.

As for the intercooler statement, yeah I was wondering that too. You cool the intake portion of a cars airflow. Thats why we are wondering what happens when the guy takes the car through a puddle of water and the water splashes all over that superheated turbo. Small quantities probably don't do much but a decent dousing who knows, depends on the tolerances I guess...funky warpage could occur I bet.

Like red 35th said, STS makes awsome Rear-Mount Turbo Kits! A guy that goes ot my church owns a shop and they are a STS Dealer, he has one on his 98 Z28 LS1 Car. The motor is bone stock aside from SLP Longtubes, and of course intercooler, and with 8psi of boost his car is making 497rwhp at the wheels. Thats with no motor work yet! I wish they would make one for ours but our gas tank and exhaust gets in the way

I understand what your saying, but the truth is they use these on aircraft engines and it works, the samller quantity can also cool faster... now this turbo kit... doesnt work

I know a guy with a WS6 with one. No idea how he's running. Last I heard it wasn't tuned yet. Not gonna make a lot of boost either, not that he'll need it to whoop my ass.

Holy crap, lotta people from BR in this thread. We should have a BR stangs meet one night at the track. Where did yall see him run? No Problem?
