Donno what it is. But since i moved to this house, every now and then, those guys fly over head, and land at local air port for like day or two. I guess they are refueling to go where ever that they are going.
But cool none the less.

I didn't take the pic, but befor those 2, there were P-51 and B-24 flew over too...

We don't get many vintage aircraft, but modern fighter jets fly over Atlanta pretty often due to Lockeed Martin and Dobbins AFB being in Marietta. It's amazing how loud those things are compared to commercial airliners especially when they fly in packs.

First is a B-17 flying fortress, 2nd bomber is a B-25 mitchell....the plane that was in the movie "pearl Harbor" as the end taking part in the "Doolittle raid"

I love WW2 airplanes. I'm a huge WW2 buff so anytime i get to see items used in the war i go crazy.

My favorite plane though has to be the P-51 Mustang. It just looks so damn sexy and sounds incredible! I wish i could have lived back in the 40's and heard one of those bombing runs where they had 1000 B-17's with 700 Escort Mustangs. That would have been awesome to see fly over you (unless you were German)

You're a WW2 buff too huh? Awesome man I can't read enough about that war... and I know it was a terrible conflict, but the whole thing just interests me like nothing else in history. I've watched the band of brothers series multiple times, and seen a lot of the other good movies that have been made about it... not to mention every video game I have installed on my computer is about WW2. I've been looking to get my hands on an M1A1 carbine and maybe a Garand, but since I'm natively from MA, I'm assuming it's gonna be tough to do. Maybe if I told them I'm a criminal it would make things easier

Ha, i was also wanting to buy a Garand, preferably one from the early 40's to increase it's chances of actually being fired in the war. Funny you mention it being tough to get one being from MA. I was in a gun shop about a year ago and they had two M1's for sale there. They wanted something like $700 or so for them so i didn't give them much attention, but they were just sitting on the rack. I'd also like to get a Nazi knife or a 1911 pistol but those tend to go for $$$

I know what you mean about the war being evil but the big picture of it all is just so attractive to me. It was the last "good" war in my opionion, and by that i mean a war where good men fought for survival against pure evil.

I've got a bunch of WW2 material, a few newspapers from certain events, coins from the war (German silver NAZI coins are very attractive), rounds and other things i snag off Ebay or locals. I have a few books, even took a WW2 class in college, play all the WW2 video games, watch band of brothers and all that jazz. I even jump at any oppurtunity to talk to any WW2 vets.

I can't wait for the new movie "Flags of our Fathers" to come out. There is another movie coming out later that is called "Black Sand Red Water" and is the battle of Iwo Jima from the Japanese perspective.

I dunno why i love WW2, but i can't get enough of it. I'm only 25 too

That was cool. One of my fav PC flight sim's is Jane's Combat Sim WW2 fighters. You basically hop in any WW2 fighter plane and either go on missions, or do a quick game where you hop in and shoot down as many enemy as you can without getting shot down yourself.

ANywhere here's a shot of one of my Nazi Coins. Like i said, the Germans made some nice looking silver coins back then. I have other denominations but this is my best

EDIT: DOn't anyone read too much into me having Nazi coins. I have them because they are a peice of history...no other reason!

Thats pretty cool man... I'm only 21 so I know where you're coming from. Most of my friends could care less about what happened 60-70 years ago, but I get excited like a kid in a candy shop whenever I see something about WW2 on the History channel, or WW2 movie on tv. Last saturday I watched Saving Private Ryan, then right afterwards flipped on AMC and "To Hell and Back" (w/ Audie Murphy) was on. What a day. Then I went and played Call of Duty... yeah I might be a little obsessed but at least it's something productive. I'm learning and having fun, rather than a lot of people I know that only have fun when drinking and such.

I only went into one gun shop before, and the tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife. I got the worst stare from the owner when I said to my buddy "Oh look a G3", as if I had brought a spare mag and was gonna start spraying. The M1A1 carbine is such a nifty little gun, I love the folding stock and I think it would be fun as hell to have just to pop targets on the weekends. I'd like to get my hands on a BAR too, semi-auto of course, that would sure be nice to have. Yes I have a huge list, I think think the only weapons I wouldn't care to have would be the japanese guns... they just scream "trash" to me, but thats just my opinion. The American weapons hold more of a sentimental value, they were the arms that combatted fascism and evil. Horray USA

I'm intertest WWII aircraft (and other machinery too)

and while I like the P-51's (see attached) I think the P-47 is ...like the guys that flew 'em said "if you want to impress a girl back home send her a picture of a Mustang, if you want to get home to that girl FLY a Thunderbolt...

on a related note...you guys ever notice that a lot of HiPo Fords are named after WWII planes?
P-51 Mustang
P-47 Fairlane Thunderbolt
P-38 F-150 Lighting
P-39 (Aira)Cobra... (OK that one's a reach )

yeah, second one is definitely a B-25

I got the chance to fly in one of those a few years back, and it was freaking awesome!

EDIT: Oh and, since others are doing this, my favorite plane was without doubt the Supermarine Spitfire.

I'm an aviation line service specialist and a pilot. I get to see all kinds of cool aircraft. We had a B-17 land and stay at our airport a month back. Most of the guys got a ride in her. My favorite WWII aircraft would be the P-51 mustang. Heck I couldn't afford one of those so I bought a ford mustang instead.
