Looking At A 66 Mustang

I have my 2003 custom vrod with salvage title up for sale and have a guy wanting to trade me for a 66 mustang.
I dont really know any info on older mustangs but here is some info on car.
1966 mustang coupe 200ci 3 speed auto number matching
Inside the care looks to be in really good shape no rips in the seats it has bucket seats with full consle
outside paint looks like it need a good buffing or a paint job there is a 2inch rust whole in both doors and a 1inch rust whole in front fender
drive train was told trans shifts good no noises
motor has been painted donno the info on if it was rebuilt or not
new parts
Disk brakes on front and drum on the back
5lug conversion with 2000 mustang wheels on it
New gastank
New Dash pad
New Radiator
New Starter
New Vaccum advance on the distributor
Carburator has been rebuilt works great now.
New voltage regulator
New Brake master cylinder, New brake lines on front and rear.
lowered 1.5 inchs
no ac or power steering

What I would be doing with it not sure I was looking at selling the vrod for a bagger so I donno that I would be keeping it or trading it for a bagger depends if i like it anuff when I would get it.
really just wanting know now what the value of it is and if there is a market for older coupes

From what you would get, it would be pretty easy to swap in a V8, that 200ci sucks! The rust is your main problem, who knows how bad it is under the paint. Look under the carpet in the front for signs of a cowl leak, also check the trunk for rust. Can you post a pic of what you will be trading, then we could give our opinion if it is a good trade.
 
Its just me, but I would pass. That's a nice looking bike. I would only pay a max of 3k for that mustang as is.

I'm with Falcon 79, I would pass without hesitation. First, it's only a 6 cyl and the demand for classic Mustangs is in V8. Second , the rust would be my biggest concern, how widespread is it? Rust is like cancer, once you get it, it's rare to ever completely get rid of it! If toy really want this 200cu coupe, I reckon it be worth $2500, maybe $3k tops after closer inspection . Keep the bike!
 
Thanks guys thats all i needed to know im not a fan of the coupes so I would have have been trying to get rid of it. He is asking 8500 for it and is willing to drive 500 miles to do the trade. It makes since why he is willing to drive that far now.
 
In nearly perfect rust free driving condition, that coupe would be lucky to fetch $6K. As it sits, I agree with everyone else at $2.5K-$3K. $1800-$2K is more realistic. Even with a salvage title, that bike has got to be worth $10K-ish?

If it has the rust u say, I would bet he frame rails are shot and the floor is toast. As far as the cowl leaking. They all leak or have been fixed. No such thing as a early mustang without a leaky cowl at one time or another.
