I've come across a little trouble with my DDM Tuning HIDs, and in figuring up the shipping back to them for warranty work, I found that I can get a regular set of 9007 bulbs for not a whole lot more.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE the look of the HIDs, and I quite frequently get compliments on them. I have the 6000K color (which is pretty much completely white with just a hint of blue), and it is pretty much perfect in my opinion, although I wouldn't have a problem with a little less, maybe 5000K. BUT, even with them being HIDs, I can't see that well with them. I have them aimed down a fair amount so that I don't blind others, and even with the hi/lo kit, the output on dark country roads isn't as far or wide as I'd like. They just don't make a very good pattern like the stock 9007 bulbs do. I want a nice beam pattern and good visibility, but the color of HIDs.

So, has anyone ever used any regular (halogen) 9007 bulbs that have a color similar to 5000K-6000K HIDs?

Here's what I've found so far, but I'm not sure about the color, visibility, or durability of any of them.

Luminics Ultra White ("5150K"): http://www.amazon.com/Luminics-Ultra-White-Halogen-Headlight/dp/B004CPNBSM

Luminics Titanium White ("5500K"): http://www.optionstage.com/luminics-titanium-white-9007.html

Sylvania Cool Blue: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AMXSWK...e=asn&creative=395097&creativeASIN=B000AMXSWK

Philips CrystalVision (up to "4000K"): http://www.amazon.com/Philips-9007-CrystalVision-Ultra-Headlight/dp/B00480N0SC

Phillips Xtreme Power (Not white, I think): http://www.amazon.com/Philips-9007-X-treme-Power-Headlight/dp/B00480N16S

Any insight or suggestions?

Do a retrofit. Its the only way to achieve what you're looking for. With the new Mini D2s projectors which are $110 and they basically screw into the hole that the original bulb was in.

Look at that output! Retrofit thread for that 96 Cobra is below the picture. You might need to register to see the thread.

And one more thing. Halogen bulbs with the blue tint are horrible. They will probably be worse than what you have now.
