I wanted to make my car just a tad bit louder and get some horses as well. I have read that the factory exhaust flows great. Are these worth getting? SLP High Flow Catalytic Conveter Kit (96-08) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

I also want to do some weight reduction. I already have the BBR RadiatorSupport/SwayBar Delete. Now I want to do the Kmember. Is this worth it since sometime in the future I'll do some more weight reduction? Someday I'll get the A-arms from BMR. 05-07 MUSTANG GT TUBULAR K MEMBER W/ MOTOR MOUNTS BMR With that model what else do I need to buy to have it installed?

Or what 1 mod do you guys recommend that I should do?

EDIT: I have the BBR RadiatorSupport/SwayBar Delete and Ford Racing 410's in storage waiting to be installed.

You may get some more sound out of the hi-flow cats, but I think a set of mufflers will do a lot more for the tone.

As far as weight reduction goes: Every little bit helps. If you can install the k-member yourself, I'd say go for it. If you have to pay for parts and labor, It may not be worth it unless you're going for an all-out car. My $.02.

The K-Member would be a good mod.

for some reason my sig will not show up.

I already have the FordRacing axel back exhaust that comes with the shelby GT's. Steeda pullies and JLT intake w/ SCT X3 brenspeed 93 race tune.

I was reading that it should only take about 2-3 hours on 2005 gt's to swap out the kmember. A friend of mine has a shop so labor isn't going to be that much.

The K-member is held in by like 8 or 10 bolts, plus the motor mount bolts and steering rack bolts. If you have a friend with a shop it shouldn't take more than an hour or two depending on who's doing the work.

The thing with the K-member is that it's about 20 lbs lighter than stock, and another 11 lbs for the arms. 30lbs, using the drag racer rule of thumb, is the equivalent of about a 3HP gain. If you like auto-x or road race than it's a much bigger deal, taking weight off of the front, but for drag racing (which I assume you are with the sway-bar delete) your money is much better spent elsewhere.

I guess I'll save up some cash and get the Spydershaft.

I wouldn't like to the rear seat delete because I know I won't like the way it looks.

tubular k member, less weight on the front end gives better weight transfer to the rear tires which helps for drag racing. i am going to be installing a tubular k member when i get the cash.

if you dont have one i'd do the one piece driveshaft first though.

It's only 15 lbs. I'd rather lose 15 lbs with a tubular K-Member than lose the ability to put two girls in the back.

exactly

+ you can always rip the back seat out for the track and throw it back in after racing. it takes a little more then 2 minutes to pull out the stock k member and replace it with a tubular one.

old drag racer math - every hundred pounds is a tenth.

supposedly the passenger seat with the heated seats are around 90 lbs, then the 50 or so for the back one, probably more but i don't want to guess too high of a number and sound like an idiot, the 20 from the k member, the 20 from the sway bar delete 20 or so from each side for the wheels in the front, probably around the same for the rear,

80 from the wheels
90 from the seat
50 from the back seat
20 k member
20 sway bar delete
30 spare tire and jack

290 = 2.9 tenths. so almost 3 tenths shaved off and its probably even more with the wheels because your shaving rotating mass.

aluminum driveshaft 31 lbs saved. its just crazy the areas you can shave off this car and not go completely crazy.

best weight reduction of all is on the driver though, subway eat fresh! haha. all 140 lbs of me soaken wet.

The rear seat does not weigh 50 lbs. If it did, I'd probably think about making the girls sit in the trunk ... I've heard 15-25 lbs.

hah i dunno, i only got the bottom portion out for the LCA install, and i was thinking it was maybe like 15 lbs or so on that, then no clue what the top portions would be, figured they'd be heavier with the brackets to flip them down and everything.

i was originally going to say 20 but i dunno, i suck at judging weight.

I made up my mind and the next mod will definitely be towards weight reducion.

I will get the Spydershaft to compliment the 410's. I have always wanted to get a tubular Kmember, even on the Mustangs that I have owned in the past. But I guess I will wait on that since I want more bang for my buck.

The car will lose weight with the BBR radiator support and the Spydershaft. Plus less rotational mass.

Where is a cheap place that has them in stock?

your saving weight with the radiator support.

they reinforced it from the factory to hold the weight of the front sway bar.150 bucks and 20 lbs less later its worth it.

i take it your talking the BMR front sway bar delete. frs8n

I actually ordered it from BlowByRacing for about $99.99. Its the same as the BMRFabrications model. I weighed it here at my house and it was about 7-8lbs. Its painted blue as well.
