id just strip it with aircraft stripper then paint it "aluminum"

VHT? Available locally says it is for high heat. Any other suggestions?Just make sure you don't cheap out on the paint...especially if you go base/clear. A lot of clear coat paints will yellow with the under hood heat. If that happens, It'll change the colour of your intake, yet again.
i have seen a few. all seem to have flaws like mine. 20ish years of heat and usually no maintenance and they all look burnt bronze. i'll paint mine and still keep an eye out for a perfect one.If you do a little looking, you can probably find someone selling one local for next to nothing. I gave away or scrapped the last three I had.
will look into that, does the lower intake have to be swapped also? as of now all the fun stuff is on hold. damn thing wont start. heres the new thread.Actually....if you're pulling it off and paint anyway, why not pick yourself up an Explorer intake ('96 or early '97) instead? Pick up 10-15hp, still keep that factory look and your stock "5.0 HO" plate will bolt right to it? You can get them for a song now a days.
