Clean them up, lap the valves, change the valve seals (may as well if you've got them apart) and swap out the stock valve springs for a better set. The Trick Flow TFS-2500100 spring kit seems like the most popular upgrade....especially if you plan to cam the engine a little anytime in the future. Or, just re-use the stock springs on your E7TE heads if you want to do it on the cheap.

Bolt them on and go. Your stock headers will even bolt right up to them.

working on the valve covers for now. that clear coat ford put on there in 92 is now a brown hardened, gooey mess. I tried everything, even aircraft stripper (which to me is paint thinner in a spray can) Now they are soaking in dish soap water after meeting mr. muriatic acid.

Anyone have any input on these? would save me the cleanup and paint... chrome though.

I Iguess it would depend....I've seen cheap chrome steel valve covers rust almost instantly. At $50...I'd be leary.

it was a moment of weakness. regardless of quality, chrome is not my flavor. i will finish the work on the original covers.
