Hello all well I wanted to get on and ask for some help. I've recently joined the mustang following with my FIRST EVER AMERICAN purchase, a 03 Mustang GT. I got rid of my ALtima Se-R and look forward to many fun days of driving with my stang however i did notice some things and wanted to know if these things were normal. First of unfortunately I getting to be an old woman (30 next month) and THOUGHT I no longer wanted a stick. My SE-R was a 6 spd and the acceleration seemed much better any thoughts on this. Secondlyafter talking to some folks the reccomendation for immediate and reasonable (financially) modifications were intake and exhaust is this a good way to go? I have been looking at the SLP, MagnaFlow and Flowmaster exhause systems, but not sure which way to go on intake. Lastly someone recommended changing the rear gears would anyone mind explaining what that is and the benefits. Thanks for the help.

The rear gears adjust the acceleration of the car. The factory gear is a 3.27Switching to a 3.73 or a 4.10 would make your car accelerate faster. It is a really good mod for daily driving, because of how much quicker your car accelerates. As for intakes, I really haven't heard too much debate. You would need to decide whether to go with a short-ram (filter located inside the engine bay), or a cold-air (filter located outside the engine bay=colder air intake) kit. There are many different choices, sounds like money might be something to consider..maybe just the least expensive?? As for exhaust...this is one of the most important mods for the Stang, since you hear it whenever you drive, so preference is a must!! You should visit mustangexhaust.com, if you haven't already, and see which exhaust tones you prefer and go from there!! Also, if you haven't already decided on an automatic transmission...a short shifter is also a very popular mod for the manual transmission Stangs. Good luck!!

If you are mainly concerned with acceleration, I would go with gears first. Gears with out question has been the best and most noticeable modification I have done to date. How much money you plan on putting in this car would help make a decision between 3:73's and 4:10 gears. If at anytime in the future you plan on adding a supercharger, I would go with 3:73's. If not, go with 4:10's. You will notice a huge difference from what you have now.

Intake and exhaust are good modifications, but you won't feel much if any difference in acceleration. Unless you get the Kenne Bell Intake . I hope this helps. Oh, and no you aren't old!

if you are planning on supercharging or just drive on the highway alot then 3.73's are your best bet, if staying N/A and mainly drive in the city with ocasional highway then 4.10's. Also for the exhaust a mid pipe with catback swap will get you the most gain but a decision will be on the tone and loudness you want

intake wont really do much for you just do a drop in K&N filter

I've got Flowmaster exhaust and it has a nice sound, but a little too common I think, especially since my neighbor across the street just got it, and I alway think someone's stealing my car when she leaves!, so am thinking about switching to SLP. You should listen to some clips and decide for yourself what you like best. And congratulations on the new car, from an even OLDER woman (38 going on 18, haha)
