okay...my 4v 4.6 has about 125k on her, i want to start building a 4v 5.4 from a bare block. I have been told that 2v and 4v blocks are the same(had i known this before i would have done something more with the two 2v engines that i already have),but i have already sold myself one building a donor 5.4 for my cobra. What is the BEST block to use(keep in mind that i plan on a 4v upstairs and forged lowers for future plans of twin turbo setup. anybody have any recommendations on what crank, rods and pistons to shop for? i want to try and hit between a 9.5:1 and 10:1 cr with "C" heads

The navigator 2v and 4v blocks are the same...Mustang is different, because steel vs. aluminum.

that what i was told as well and i got quite a steal on a complete 02 triton 5.4 today on my way to work... i do have one concern if the deck hieght is taller on the big bro engine, and i plan on 4v heads and valvetrain, then will a cobra factory intake(say... a 2001) still fit? ive never heard of any problem on the 5.4 conversions but it seems like a taller deck hieght would pull the heads apart quite a bit... any info on that situation?

Here is the interchange on the block from the computer at work......don't know the deck height, and you should be able to run a Cobra intake....

ok i found out this... the deck hieght is about .35" inches taller on a 5.4 which DOES spread the heads apart, and there ARE 4.6 4v to 5.4 4v intake adapters just for that reason. and on the year models... there were two blocks for 2v 5.4's. one from 97-01 and a revised NVH block that is supposed to fix "noise, vibration, and harshness" from 02 up. so i checked the numbers on my new block and luckily i have a new model block... if anybody is doing a similar conversion or is just curious, go to modularfords.com under the mustang GT forum and read the thread called "this should answer a lot of 5.4 2v questions" ... it helped me out a lot

That's cool about the adapters available. Now I remember reading in one of my 5,900,967 Mustang magazines that they make those.....cool.....well good luck with the build, post pics if possible, I love custom work.
