Anyone now the torque specs for 1/2" ARP head bolts for a 302? Popped a head gasket on a nicley built 302 that has been modified for 1/2" ARP head bolts and I don't have the build sheet or orignal ARP sheet for the head bolts.

Anyone have torque specs for the 1/2' head bolts from ARP??

Here is the project car.....:D

i hate you, thats an awesome looking car. why 1/2" head bolts? using 351 heads? i would think the torque specs were the same as a regular bolt. you could always call up arp...they will tell you exactly what to do

All I have is the 1/2" ARP stud torque specs:

90 ft-lbs with ARP Moly
130 ft-lbs with 30 wt oil
85 ft-lbs with ARP Moly on aluminum heads

BTW: I'm pretty sure the torque spec is higher with the 1/2 fasteners than the 7/16" fasteners.

Good luck.

Myke did you finish your notch yet? Pm me with some pics. We are still working on my 84 t-top body work sucks.

Haven't finished it yet. Everytime I get started, another project comes along. Well, another profit project that is, compared to mine, which cost me $$$. Plus having the hardest time finding a set of fenders for some reason. And that combined with being the taxi for my kids and thier activities, time is limited. But did finish smoothing one apron and started welding on the other. Once this Cobra is done I will get back to my car. I want to have it in the paint booth by Jan though.

back to the topic,,,

Gemini racing built the car back in the day and it was built using 1/2" head bolts. Checked ARP's web site but it isn't really helpful when looking for torque specs. Did a google search, and came up with 100ft #'s.., but want to make sure. 100ft #'s just seems high for the 302 block to me, since 1/2" bolts were for 351. Just wanted to verify if torque specs were the same wether the 1/2" bolts were on a 302 or 351..
