Looking to buy headers for 5.0 mustang gt

I want to buy headers soon. I have the stock headers on right now which I think are the shorties. I have an off-road H-Pipe as well. I know very little about mustangs considering i just bought my first one last year. I hear BBK and MAC are good for headers but my question is like i hear all this stuff about equal and unequal and all that good stuff. Whatever that means. I don't really understand completely. Any recommendations would be great? All consider i dont have tons of money.

For the money, the FRPP (Ford racing parts) ceramic shorty headers can not be beat @ $309.xx

Header Basic's:
Unequal Shorty = stock style header that should bolt right in
Equal Shorty = equal tube lengths in a short version (not worth the reduced engine clearances IMO)
Long Tubes = All 4 tubes run under the car and "collect" below the floor pan. Offer different sound some slight performance gains but are hard to install and can cause heat soak issues with the starter.

Stick with unequal shorties and you'll be fine

go for a nice ceramic coated set of long tubes. they will provide you with a bit more torque and a nice muscle car sound.

+1...i have 3 year old mac headers and they look like garbage. Strangely my mac xpipe and catback still look new...

I have BBK unequal length shorties and they work just fine. I put them on a few years ago and still have no rust at all.

I have BBK ceramic unequal lenths in my car for about 5 years now. They have lost that shiny luster look but no rust which is the big thing. My friend just bought some BBK shorty equal lengths shorties and is having some fitment issues with his x pipe fitting. After comparing them, the unequal lenths do seem to be narrower or closer to stock. Out of that small ammout of tubing there is no gain in the equal length shorties in my opinion. Especially for the hastle(also have to jack up the motor to get one side in). I say get BBK or FMS(I would buy FMS if I were to do it again) unequal lenth shorties or if your state allows full exhaust with long tubes. Long tubes give you better low end torque but at the cost of ground clearance, heat soaking issues, replacing starter is difficult and installation hastles...

I have these headers mounted up to a BBK 2.5" H-pipe and 2-chamber Flowmaster cat-back system. They are very nice headers and they look beautiful after all these years (I think about 8 years...but this is not my daily driving car). Anyway, they were also very easy to install. It took only about 3 hours or so.

PS- I recommend going with locking header bolts. A few of mine fell out with vibration.

Definitely use the locking bolts, those little buggers back out all time
