Guys, I cant decide on weather or not to get a mmr 900 shortblock or just buy a whole rotating assembly and have the motor built or possibly build the motor myself. I dont want burn a hole in my pocket but i also want my motor to be pretty stout and be able to take 600 rwhp. What would you guys recommened? anybody know any screaming deals on built shortblocks or rotating assemblys?

i am currently building a mmr 950 kits and i am very impressed with the kit and def recommend them. the build is pretty involved so it depends on your skill and how far you wanna get into it. mmr has been awesome so far so im going +1 for them. the manley parts are amazing and ive only had one problem so far so we'll see how everything gets resolved

Either but the internals and build it yourself or buy a complete, it wont save you money much if you have to pay someone to assemble the block. Unless you get really good deals on parts and/or have a free block to start with.
Are you going to go forged crank?

the mmr 900 comes with a kellogg forged crank. the only problem with the crank was that forged has center counter weights and i had to grind my block some to get it to clear. but it wasnt to bad just had to spend some time doing that.

Yeah, mine was the same deal. I'm just asking if he buys internals if he's going forged crank.

If it were me I would just get the entire shortblock because as some have mentioned it takes some stupid stuff out that COULD or MIGHT happen. Not saying it will, but its less hassels to run into

If you get the entire shortblock you have your stock one as a spare in case something bad happens.

Check the classifieds here and on other sites. I picked up a Kellogg crank and a set of rods for my build off of the Corral.

Go to your local ford dealership. Talk to the mechanics and ask what machine shop they use. Then go talk to that machine shop and see if they price for them to build the motor is cheaper than doing mmr.
