03 gt

pro 5.0 short shifter w/steeda knob
-frpp 4.10 gears
-steeda underdrive pulleys
-k&n drop in filter
-diablo handheld tuner

Bought the car with these mods. I'd like to pick up a few hp and it seems opening up the exhaust is the next step. I'm happy with the car so far, but I'm getting pulled on the top end by a few people I'd rather not be.

I'd like to keep the car as close to stock sounding as possible.

Coming from the Subaru camp I'm unfamiliar with what brands are best for a specific application, and hoped you all could point me in the right direction.

Thanks

get a Cold air intake, tune up-spark plugs, synthetic oil (only if less than 60k miles) MSD stacker ignition, Off road X pipe and Flowmasters (will make it loud but it will sound good and gain hp tq), cams, port intake and heads, intake plenum, or intake manifold, supercharger and goodies, forged internals...

What times are you running (60' and 1/8 or 1/4, and MPH) and what cars are you getting pulled on at the end of the run?

an exhaust is one of the first things you should do. forget the CAI, they don't add hp on these cars. then get a plenum and throttle body. if you feel like stepping it up more, go for cams.

cold air kit, cat-back will help some. I had the K&N fipk & have a Bassani catted x w/ borla cat back(it is loud). If you want it to sound close to stock..keep the the factory h pipe and research the cat backs..most are substantially louder. Good luck with your GT

are there any local clubs or car shows where you can meet other Stang owners to hear their exhaust systems?

get some VT stg 1 cams, plenum and T/B, headers, x-pipe, and a cat back along with a dyno tune since you already have the tuner

current mods

-pro 5.0 short shifter w/steeda knob
-tokico illumina 5way adj shocks/struts
-steeda sport springs
-steeda cc plates
-frpp 4.10 gears
-steeda underdrive pulleys
-k&n drop in filter
-diablo handheld tuner
-mach1 chin spoiler

ordered a set of nitto 555s and a 100 shot wet set up.

Changing the plugs 2 steps colder.
nkg tr6 I believe. I have the notes I've been taking down in the car.

retarding the timing 2 degrees from stock

running a window switch, WOT switch, bottle warmer, and a purge.

Yeah yeah "purge is for show", not really in this case, I just don't want a situation where I'm spraying fuel and the gas isn't good to go.

The above timing setup is a base and it'll be on the dyno after the install.

I'm new to the predator and mustags in general so I figured I'd bounce it off you guys before hitting the switch.

I've fooled with turbo imports for a while now, and this is my first adventure with a bottlefed domestic. Being that I'm a bit of a newb with the gas, I've enlisted a few guys who are more familiar with nitrous and for that matter nitrous on mustangs to take care of the install and subsequent dyno session.

Am I overlooking anything?

Next round of mods will be a catted x pipe and a quiet muffler. The magnaflow seems to be a good choice.

well a good dynotune with sct software with your kit will do wonders. My friend mark went 11.9 with:

75 kit
sct dyno tune
3.73s
xpipe
my bullitt replicas with et streets
lca's(not a big deal)
cai(insignificant with the spray)

kit came in yesterday got a spot in the shop reserved for Friday.

I had a track night planned Friday night to get some video of a few friends who have pulled 11.20s and 11.60s in street driven honda civics.

The 11.20 is a black hatch who will be hunting for the 10s.

11.60 is a red coupe. I don't know if he'll make the 10s, but I think he could easily get down to 11.40s.

I'll be happy to break 12s.

well track night got moved to wed.

any guesses on trap speed and et.

I know et is 60' dependent, but I've always been able to get right at or just under the average 60' most people get with a setup.

Just curious what I should expect?

I doubt spraying from 1st gear will do anything but fry the tires, but I'd be willing to take any advice you can offer.

I'd go with an off-road midpipe (prochamber maybe ) and a catback, a tuner of some sort, plenum/tb combo and maybe some cams or headers
