Looking to Piece together Big Brake Kit, Need Brake Guru's

Ok....so here's the deal. There is a change of plans. After talking more extensively with Revolution I decided that the superlite forged caliper would not give me the look I am after. It's just too small.

Keep in mind....I'm fully aware that caliper (front and rear) would give me waaaay more power than I would ever need. It's just more of an asthetic thing for me. Around here I just go to the grocer and see 5 150k plus cars with calipers the size of a hockey stick and I drool. I'm keeping this stang for the rest of my life so that's what I'm looking for.

I'm in talks right now with them and ssbc to use try to adapt their Force 10 V8 caliper to my car. SSBC :: A113-16 It's a gigantic caliper that looks like it wraps half way around the disc.

Needless to say there is not a ready made kit for our cars. What we're looking at is taking a kit for a c5 vette and moding it. The most important thing is the offset of the rotor. The c5 has the same offset as our cars. All that will need be done is a re drill on the hat ( the vette has a 5x4.75, ours are 5x4.5) and custom fab a bracket to mount it. I will probably have the guys at revolution brake llc do the work.

For the rear I'm not sure yet. If we decide in the next few days they think this something that we can do we will move forward, make sure it works on the front and then deal with the rear. Which I have no idea what I will do. I'm still thinking a wilwood 14in superlite in the rear but we'll see. maybe maybe I'll do the big ssbc caliper in the rear as well.

Keep you guys posted

Here's the verdict. Everything will work, we're simply working out a price for the parts and work.

SSBC FORCE V8 8 caliper piston if front. 2 piece 14in rotor (cross vain slotted rotor only)

Wilwood forged Superlight 4 piston in the rear 1 piece 13in rotor (slotted only )

Calipers will be powdercoated ferrari yellow. This is my car as it sits now.

(PS, as I mentioned earlier, the car is being shipped from chicago right now. The trucker already damaged the front end so I have no idea what I'm going to do with a new skirt/ body kit. Doesn't look good from the pics)

Here's my car right now not inc damage from yesterday , I think yellow was the right choice.

UPDATE: The rear kit is about 1 week away but the front has not even shipped for REVOLUTION LLD to start modding it. I guess SSBC has a hold up for some parts they need for the caliper. The est ship date is the 2-25. So it's going to be some time until it even starts getting modded for my car. I'll keep this thread updated as it moves along.

ALSO, I decided this is the time to update the exterior. I will be doing a full urethane saleen kit with saleen wing from Cruizin Concepts. Manufacturer of the kit is KBD. Car will be going in for this work in a week or so. It will be on before the brakes make it on.

I'd be making the shipping company replace the bumper.

oh they are, and then some. Insurance is payin out nicely because the splitter I have on there is bonded to the front bumper. It needs to be replaced. So that means the front bumper does to. Their insurance co is writing a check off of their own appraisel for $1900

I have good paint connections here in CA so, 1k for the full saleen kit and wing, and my guys are charging me $900 to paint and mount. No money out of pocket.... :)

I HATE how long these custom projects take. The SSBC calipers just came to my house from SSBC. They had a delay because of one thing or another. So I took some pics for you guys. I just shipped them out to the shop doing the work. The hats will be re drilled for the stang and a custom bracket will be made. Also the calipers (and the rear wilwoods, superlite foged) are going to be powdercoated ferrari yellow. I'm probably 3-4 weeks away from getting them on the car. No matter though. The car is at a shop right now having a full sallen s281 kit installed, and xenon hood scoop (a little more aggresive than stock). I will be having a custom fat stripe painted on the hood and front lower portion of the bumper very very similair to the stang in the upper right corner of mossymuscle.com homepage. Enjoy the pics

You will be leaving everybody in the dust.. your brake dust :p Those things are going to be killer. I bet the only thing behind the wheel will be rotor and caliper.

are you still powdercoating the calipers yellow? Its gonna turn out sick!

ferrari yellow is the exact color being used.... :nice:

i hate waiting so loooong ...... At least I get the car back out of the bodyshop next week. New saleen kit and a little custom paint :nice:

put a xenon scoop on the factory hood too. Shaped a little differently than the factory one, little more aggressive, I'll post pics.

Rear brakes finally arrived at my home. Fronts will be in middle of next week. However car will be back in the body shop monday morning for what i hope will only be a week. So install will have to wait till she gets back out.

Here's some pics.

Front Calipers and Rotors are in. The look enormous. When the wilwoods came in I thought they were huge......they look absolute tiny now. Here are some various pics. I will probably have the brakes on by the end of the weekend if things go ok. I'll update with pics as I go.

Good lord I would take those willwoods in the front of my car, let alone the front SSBC's! Care to share how much this setup is going to cost in the end?
