losing a/c freon

Evaporator, yes. Heater core, no. Buy some freon with the UV leak detector in it and see if you can find the leak then. Maybe try some with stop leak in it too. Is it a fast leak or slow leak?

the freon lasted for around two months the first time i filled it with one can of freon and one can of stop leak when i bought the car. the freon lasted about a month the second time i filled it with one can of freon with stop leak. i have recently put two cans of freon with stop leak. where is the evaporator located. i know that the heater core is located behind the dash. is the evaporator there too? i looked in latemodel restoration supply and they do not carry one for a 94-95 stang. where will i be able to buy a good quality evaporator?

They are actually in the same unit behind the dash. Perhaps I misspoke. Not sure if freon ever actually goes through the evaporator...

i will try the UV leak detector first today and see if i can see the leak. by the way, how many of the small freon cans does the a/c system require if it is empty?
In the past I have found out that if you, or the previous owner changed out the compressor or any other part of the a/c system and reused the original o rings. Or, even used new ones from the parts store, a leak can develop. The parts store o rings are crap in my opinion. I have seen it first hand where a store bought o ring would hold under vacuum, then freon was added and it leaked out slowly over a week. I have since then insisted on only using dealer o rings. So just keep that in mind before you go replacing any other expensive parts. Simple and cheap first...
p.s. also check the fittings where you add freon. There is a valve in there like in a tire. Replace it. It is a common place to leak.

well, the original owner had replaced all the a/c system components before. i will keep in mind the o-rings and valves when i use the UV leak detector. thanks.
