Losing Coolant....

the ECT is a sensor that is a brass sensor that screws into the lower intake?? and also into the heater line? i just got a new one of those becuase when i was taking the altenator of, i broke the old one....i got mine from auto zone....i think it was like $20 it was part brass and part plastic

If your coolant isn't flowing right, then no sensor is going to solve this issue. Looks like you'll need to pull a head off & flip the gasket.

You're mostly right on the ECT - there are two brass sensors. The lower intake one is the CTS, it feeds the dash guage. The ECT is by the heater hose, and it feeds the computer. If the ECT is bad, the computer won't turn the fan on. If the CTS is bad, the guage in the dash won't work right.

I had trouble with the plastic/brass sensors; they failed too quickly. I bought the Motorcraft ones, and they've lasted for a few years so far.

....my car wont start now....F
it turns over and over and over, and it acts like its going to start but wont...i smell gas pretty strong after i try a few times.....wtf??? i just need to move it into the shop so i can rip it apart
im seriously done with this car

I don't know which gasket goes which way, but I'm sure someone else does. As for the starting, it sounds like you're getting spark but no fuel. Is it possible you tripped the fuel cutoff switch in the trunk? It's easy to do, especially if the trunk are gets any sort of shock.

Other than that, I'd double-check the plug wires and the coil, just in case a wire is loose.

how do i tell if the fuel cutoff has been tripped.....
if that happened would i still be smelling fuel though?

Hmmm, good point. If the fuel cutoff is tripped, no fuel will get to the engine. You can check the fuel curoff switch in the trunk. There's a hole in the trunk liner, right behind the driver's tail light. Put your finger thru there, and you should feel a button to push down on. If it's been popped, you'll be able to push the button down easily and feel a click.

I would suggest tracking down where the fuel is coming from. If it's coming just from the exhaust, it's likely the ignition isn't firing. Double-check you're getting spark to the spark plugs. Here's a great troubleshooting guide for you:

i found my problem i think.....
coolant was spitting out my radiator cap...
got a new radiator cap and a resivoir...i think im good to go

engine is ok as far as big problems go....i still have this annoying knocking..i made a new thread about it, feel free to post there
