lost my lug nut key HELP!

Hey Guys,

I lost my lug nut key for my rims, and now need to change the tire. The guys at Big O said they didn't have the proper tool to get mine off becuase there was too little space.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement key for my rims?

If they are the OEM rims and locks the Ford Dealership should be able to order you a replacement key.

Mine had a little brown bag under the spare with the lock code and phone number/address for a replacement. Might try looking around under the carpet in the trunk and in the spare area.

yeah, but they are not ford wheels, they are Eglae wheels, if I call them do you think they would have a replacement key?

well man here is the deal, hopefully your lugs require a socket that is female, meaning that it fits over the entire lug nut. With that being the case you can use a socket that is a hair to small and beat it on there with a 3lb sledge. You may have to sacrifice a socket so make sure it is craftsman If you have locks that need a male socket. Meaning the socket is keyed to fit on the top of the lug only, you are screwed. Unless you got a buddy with a welder to tack weld a parishable socket on there. Good luck

Listen CAREFULLY,

Take a size 21(one size- or one size+, 12 point 1/2 inch socket.

Get a hammer, hammer it IN the lug nut, it will fit VERY snug, great.

Now just turn them off.

Now take the socket with the lug nut in a vise and punch out the lug nut.

This will take care of your missing lug nut situation.

We had to do this a few times in the past.

If you are working with garbage tools, they will break during this operation, so make sure you have some quality tools available at least.(Craftsman is quality enough)

Wheels are not ford but your log nuts must be?
My dealer, when doing my brakes inspection manage to remove the wheels without my key that i left home. So i figured that they had a universal tool or something like that.

I always used to just use a hammer and a chisel. I used to work at a gas staition in highshool. once a month or so someone would come in with a flat and no key for the locking lug. it is not hard at all. you will ruin the locking lug though.

thats not true
my stock keyed lugs were female all I had to do was take a 7/8s socket bang it on and take the impact and it came right off then take a air hammer and pound the lug out

but you need access to air tools but it can be done

This works. They are pretty easy to bust in half. It would be easier to steal wheels if people used the keyed lugs on every stud.
