lost out on the fox i always wanted =(

today i spotted an add on craigslist that was posted two days ago for a modified white lx hatch for $4000. its pretty much the car i have always wanted. ive spent the last few years building a 69 ls1/t56 camaro that is way to nice to drive on the streets, bummer isnt it? my 01 cobra is just a POS in my opinion and worthless to mod. so, for track duty and all around bad ass-ness i want a 5.0!

i give the guy a call and he informs me that the car sold on ebay. no where did his add say it was also on ebay. anyway to make a long story short the guy is kicking himself in the ass because i live 20 miles away and i have cash! now hes stuck dealing with a guy from texas. i hope the deal goes bad and he calls back.

take a look at the add and tell me if you think i can find something better. the car is adult owned by the way.

the slow-bra is what it is, a daily driver, and a monthy note. I broke the trans two times (under warranty) with just nitto drags, mid pipe, and a cat back. bst time was 13.6

i wish it had that push rod lumpy cam sound.

Mine has a lumpy cam sound at idle ... because it's idling too low and seems to be missing on one cylinder. Either something is amiss in my ignition system, or I've got a blown head gasket. But hey, if you REEEEEEALLY wanna get yourself a 5.0...

its just gettin old. i think after working on LS1/6/2 engines in my friends cars, a 390 for my dads mustang, and the many 350s my 69 camaro has seen. i just feel the ol modular 4.6 really isnt as cool as a push rod V8.

anyway, so did i miss out on a decent fox body? thats a hell of a lot of mods for the price. i always wanted a white lx hatch with dark rims.

Looks good, but some of those mods are just filler

He has 30# injectors on a stock rebuilt motor (doesn't list heads or cam so assume it's stock)

It's a lot of ither cool mods, but most are really nothing special. It leaves me wondering how good the car is. He didn'e even list the current mileage...just that it was supposedly rebuilt around 80K

im interested in modding the hell out of the suspension and getting a really nice idle and exhaust note. im amazed at how many mustangs you see for sale without subs, control arms and other worth while mods.

i could care less if the car had a fancy stereo. im interested in functioning a/c, lx hatch, 5 speed, and some decent mods like full exhaust to say the least.

what hooked me was all the clutch stuff, 5 lug conversion, exhaust, wheels, and the body.

Subs and control arms are relatively cheap and easy to throw on. As long as the rest of the car is straight and not beat to hell, I wouldn't worry about the suspension mods so much until after you've got your hands on it. Just make sure the torque boxes aren't ripped out or anything like that, and you should be fine.

thanks for the tips. i love tearing cars apart. here is a gander at my latest creation. carbed ls1/t56 69 camaro. i put 9 years and too much money into the camaro to beat on it like i want to. so if and when i get a fox it will take over that task.

First....If I had a nickel for every car I missed out on, should have bought, could have bought, didn't bought...I could buy a GT500 by now.

Second...That Camaro is badass. Old muscle needs tires and wheels like that one. I hate the guys who keep the cars with 14" steel or mag wheels with 195-70-R14 tires on them because it was factory. So what.....nobody says they have to sell the originals, stack them in the garage and put some customs on there.

Just the same, I hate it when folks with classics go in the total opposite direction and want to cram 20's or 22's under EVERYTHING for some reason. IMO, anything bigger than 17" on a classic muscle car usually looks utterly absurd.

The chrome Torque Thrust rims on that Camaro look niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice...

I don't understand why you wouldn't drive the balls out of that thing. Its obviously gonna take a beating. LS1's are stout engines and t-56's are strong to begin with. If I had 100,000 dollars into my car I would still beat it BECAUSE I had that much cash into it. Nonetheless its definately a beautiful car. And +1 about the small wheel thing. We have a 66 GTO in my shop and it has 14 inch Cragars on it and the owner wants to get 15 inch Cragars to replace the 14's. When I suggested to my boss (a 71 year old business man who doesn't know squat about today's trends and technology or cars in general) to look into 17 inch cragars he said, "oh come on your getting way to out of range on it." Old school technology sucks and he doesn't understand it.

I can see not wanting 14's, but what's wrong with 15's? TONS of tire and rim choices available, performs and looks better than stock, doesn't kill your ride quality, the rim won't get destroyed if you hot a pothole, and it doesn't look like one of those freaky "DUBS" model cars...

im running some 18'' coys customs C5 wheels with BFG drag radials in the rear and BFG g force sports on the front.

the ls1 aint stock either. i hope it puts down 420+ to the wheels. the car also has a nine inch with 4.11 gears, 3'' drop leafs, cal track bars, sumped fuel tank, custom dash with autometer phantoms, smooth firewall, smoothed a/c vents, oh there is way too much to list. like i said, i went way overboard.
