I am running a 2000 Mustang GT 5 Spd. Just wonderin what type headers and cat-back exhaust i should get to get the sickest sound out of the stang. I just got my o/r h-pipe in and i am not going to run any cats. Any suggestions on what should be done for best HP increase / loudest sound?

spintech is pretty sick!!! but if your gonna go with them, i suggest getting the catback(i wish i would of). any catless midpipe is gonna give u a satanic sound.

Straight pipes (no crossover) and just about any muffler...Flows would be my choice.

a tip of advice.. if you go with long tube headers your car is going to seem a bit quiet.. until you go WOT or get on it.. that's when it really opens up. With my exhaust I hear that all the time.. they don't expect it to be that loud because it doesn't sound like that all the time. I like it like that But.. I know a guy who has the Bassani cat-back.. and geez that thing is just awesome. Very loud, especially under normal driving conditions.

the pro chamber/slp report is that its deep at idle which would pass for stock(very unsuspecting at the stop light), loud when cruising, when you get on it all hell breaks loose. my setup sounded better than the all mac setup on a mach 1 with headers<---(so the guy said). the reverb you get is awsome when driving by highway barriers or other cars.

i also impressed a guy with an 01 cobra also and he too had a modded exhaust which didnt sound too good. he followed me for the longest time the other day.

loud mouths or magna packs are the key for a non flowmaster sound. if you do run this setup give it time to set in.

I've seen some of the Loudmouth clips. SLP LM2 = Juvenile Sweetness! I would have thrown those on my pony if I didn't live in a relatively quite gated community. >_< I have to take it extra slow coming in an out as it is to keep it as quiet as possible for my neighbors.

My Magnaflow setup gets pretty deafening under the right conditions on the road and has a sweet rumble while idling. It is fairly tame on the highway until around 65+ It starts to roar past that. I love to hit 75-80 next to the barrier in the hammer lanes. Cops seem to be everywhere in Memphis lately, though. Driving off highway is always satisfying if you just want to listen to your exhaust... along with everyone else.

Still doesn't compare to the Loudmouths, but I'm more than pleased with what I have.

If you want something loud, the slps are loud. Just the catback was loud but when the lts and x were installed it sounded completely insane. I couldn't imagine this setup without the cats.

On my previous 00 GT I just put on some single chamber Flows and they sounded great for a while then they started crackling. I have BBK long tubes, BBK H-pipe and 2 chamber flows and it sounds awesome. What CSLED said the long tubes have a pretty low rumble at idle but when you open it up it's pretty loud.

What is the best cat back/ muffler for a deep rumble? The loudness isn't as important as the actual sound I want deep sound. I am looking for a good rumble at idle as well. I listened to sound clips but they don't do justice. The magnaflows sounded better than the magnapacks on the clips. I know I don't want flows i don't like the sound of those.

Well since you've already purchased your midpipe, your choices in headers are limited. You can only get shorties instead of LTs. A Catback can pretty much be purchased at any time, but you have to think about if you want shorties or LTs before you get your midpipe because now if you want to get LTs you are going to have to get another midpipe. Headers may change your exhaust tone a little, but not much.
But for loud, I would go with a UPR O/R X or a Dr.Gas O/R with a Mac Catback with dumps . SLP sounds pretty loud also but, get a catted X with those. An O/R X with a SLP is a little too raspy for my taste. To me, an O/R X or H sounds better with a Mac Catback or FLowmaster Catback. SLP or Magnaflow sounds better with a Catted X or H. A nice set of cams will also compliment your exhaust setup.

A Mac Pro-Chamber with a Mac Catback has that nice deep rumble.

My O/R x-pipe and Dynomax Bullets are about the loudest I've heard on any (street) Mustang...so far.

so the slp longtube & x pipe fit an auto mustang?! i was real up in the air w/ a midpipe to get this summer but if slp's longtube fits the auto ill definitely go w/ the slp o/r x pipe...the only difference would be the packs at the end...reddrgn01gt do you have any sound clips of your stang?! and if not...from listening to your car all the time how do you think an slp o/r x would sound with magnapacks? ive never seen or heard of a magnaflow/slp combo...it could be interesting...
