LoudMouth I or II????

i have an 01 mustang gt. i have flowmaster 40's and the rest of the exhaust is stock. i cant afford header or a X or H pipe so ive decided to swap the mufflers b/c it is WAYYYY to quiet. should i go with loudmouth I or II ? is there that big of a difference. Sounds clips would help!!! Thanks guys.:SNSign:

I don't have sound clips but i vote LM1. They are nice and loud with the stock headers and H.

If you keep your stock midpipe and you are set on SLP, I would go for the LM1 if you want loud.

If you ditch the cats, the LM1's are going to sound a bit raspy, cackly, and very loud.

If you plan on a swap of the stock midpipe for an off-road one in the near future, the LM2's may be a better choice.

They are $150 to buy, but you can't afford an o/r mid pipe? You can pick up used mid pipes for $100 or less all day long.

I'd pretty much mirror what's said by 4u2nv. I have the LM1 with stock everything else and it's loud if you want it to be but you can calm it down too if you get out out of it. My son has the LM1 on his GT with an off-road X and it is raspy, cackly, and very loud just like 4u2nv says.

If you're going to keep the stock midpipe, then the LMI's would sound nice. But if you go with an aftermarket midpipe, then definately go with the LMII's. The LMI's will be so loud and raspy with an aftermarket midpipe that you won't be able to stand it really. You might be able to, but it will just be LOUD and toneless. LMII's sound the best with aftermarket midpipe, imho. I've heard helty's car with LMI's with catted X-pipe, LMII's with catted X-pipe and LMII's with o/r x-pipe and i'd have to say the LMII and o/r X-pipe is an awesome sound.

The LMI's were just ****ing loud, when I would drive behind him I couldn't hear anything but his exhaust. Even when I had my windows up, it's still all I heard and it actually hurt my ears But now with the LMII's on there, it just sounds awesome and it's not so loud that it hurts.. but it is ddaammnnn loud still. We live on the 3rd floor of our apartment complex and when he starts his car up, I can hear it inside with the doors and windows shut. I can hear him drive off and make it quite a ways down the road before I stop hearing it. So, if you're worried about the LMII's being too quiet, it's not gonna happen with an aftermarket midpipe

I have both the LMI and the LMIIs.

I started with the LMIs, very nice and loud and doesnt sound too bad. When I upgraded the rest of my system with LTs and and o/r X, I switched to the LMII race mufflers. It is a simple 5 minute switch from the Is to the IIs. Running the IIs with the o/r X and the LTs made it a little louder than when it was a stock exhaust with the LMIs. I got curious and switched the LMII race pipes for the LMI resonators just to see what would happen. I havent had time to switch it but it is quite a bit louder. It does sound a lot more raspy tho and lose a little of the low end sound. As for the cracking and popping, its there, but when I drive to work I have to go down a 40* slope between 2 concrete walls. I cant help but roll down my window, drop to 2nd @ 40 mph and let it coast.

Overall, if you ARE NOT going to upgrade, get the LMIs they are louder and have a pretty good tone. If you decide to upgrade to an o/r X, spend an extra $150 on the LMII race mufflers and call it a day.

LM1s sound great with with the stock H. but if you plane on switching to no cats, then you might want to go with the II's.

Keep your flowmaster mufflers and get an H pipe for nearly 1/4 the cost of the SLP CB. Get more power and better sound.

But thats jmo, but your in Cali so that might not be an option.

In either case I would get Magnaflow Magnapacks instead of eitehr SLP kit. They are cheaper when you use the coupon right here on partshopper. I just bought mine and it was $390 something shipped to my door.

Loudmouth II! i have them with an O/R x-pipe from BBk and that chit is LOUD! and it sounds great too. the loudmouths are cool, but the have no real tone to them... just a lound roar, which is badass still, but if you want something that is not only loud, but has a nice sound to it too with out makeing you completely deff, then the II's are perfect

i have the same problem. flow's with stock h and it's just to quiet i heard the loudmouth I with a off road X on some guys car last summer, his car was a auto and was shifting at low rpms and i still think it was the loudest mustang i ever heard. but it was very raspy.

what i am going to do is get a off road x pipe and keep my flows for now.

II's. you will undoubtedly want to upgrade your mid-pipe in the future. If you know for sure you will ALWAYS have the stock H, then, and only then, should you get the I's. / thread

thats what I have on now. They sound real good. I have the IIs waiting to get put on to see how I like them, If I dont like those then I will switch back to the powerflos but they are a bit louder than the other straight thru mufflers i think. A good sound to them
