Low-back Racing seats?

I saw a set of low back "racing" seats in a magazine shoot a while back, I think it was in a Chevy, but I can't remember when or where. Anyways, I'm interested in this as an option for a classic Mustang but I can't find any online.

Has anyone seen a lowback "racing" seat with a good amount of bolstering?

Check out the Shelby Cobra style seats that most people put in their replicas. They look like they will hold you pretty well. I have also seen a seat in some vintage mustang racers that look similar to the Cobra seat, but the sides wrap way around your ribs. I don't have any idea where to get those kind though.

I do not reccommend doing low back "racing" seats. One of the few concessions that I am making to leaving my 64 1/2 "looking" stock is to uprgrade to 69 highback seats. When I had my 67 years ago, I was rear ended. I got a pretty bad case of whiplash. My brain was basically scrambled for about two weeks. I would be talking and just quit in the middle of a sentence and not even realize it. Things that I knew like the back of my hand were gone temporarily from my memory. It was a very scary time.

Go with a high back seat. If you are ever in a wreck, you will be glad you did.

Been there, done that.

I use the "pro street drag" seat. It is the same seat as the vintage race bucket but with the head support. I then had a custom seat cover made in vinyl with the vertical stripes to keep it looking "vintage".

I agree about using a head rest, especially on a daily driver like my car is

Dave,

Post a pic of that seat in your car if you have some time. I would greatly appreciate it. Did you bolt them to the stock platforms? Do they sit any higher than the stock seat?

Also a few more on the cardomain site. I made the base myself and it was a bit of a pain in the butt to get the right height, layback etc. Kirkey sells a very basic universal seat mount but I wanted something more heavy duty. And something that would mount to the stock seat tracks so I could move the seat forward and backward. The base is made from bent sheet aluminum and aluminum angle stock all welded up. If you decide on these seats and need more pics or measurements I can get them to you.
