My low coolant light comes on sometimes when I start my car and stays on. My coolant was recently changed and is never low. What might be causing this?

Either low coolant in the reservoir, or the sensor is dead

more than likely a crappy sensor..the stock gauges aren't exactly known to be reliable. My coolant light comes on from time to time and its not even plugged into anything.

Check the overflow jug...thats where the sensor gets it reading from i think. There should ALWAYS be coolant in the overflow jug. If not, top it off more than the indicator line, because chances are, your radiator might be a little low too.

Also remove the sensor and clean the contacts. If the contacts are full of poo, they cant conduct (when the coolant level is as high as the prongs on the sensor, the electrolyte closes the dynamic connection between the two prongs. No light). When the prongs get dirty, the connection is bad and the sensor thinks the level is low.

Good luck.
