Ok....it's not the TOB because it happened before and after I got it replaced.

I can only hear it in 5th gear, when above 55-60mph....and when the throttle is being pressed.

I know it's directly linked to the throttle becuase I can be doing 75-80mph down the interstate let off the gas....it stops, give it gas....I can hear it again.

Any ideas??

I had a wird chirping noise when cruising in my car. it turned out to be the clips that hold the drip rail on. only took me like 1year to find it. mine sounded likeit was coming from the middle of the dash and it turned out to be the drivers side drip rail. it was only cruising at certain rpm's that I would hear it. probably not what is happing in your case but thought I would throw it out. basically there are metal clips that slide into plasit retainer on the cowl and drip rails.

I get the same thing on my 02 GT, mine only is in 5th gear, and its a chirping / grinding type sound that I can feel in my shifter. Its worse until the car warms up and at low rpm's then kinda goes away. Can't figure it out - definately can feel it through the shifter, but only if 5th. No other tranny problems - I figure something must be ****ed up somewhere in my tranny - just gonna run it and hope nothing bad happens.

It's probably the sound of your synchros, I hear mine sometimes.

My dad's F-150 made the same noise and it was the U-Joints. Press the gas "chirp chirp chirp" let it off and it was fine..

i get the same thing-only when cruising at high speeds, and i noticed it was worse going into headwind. sounds like its coming from the dash, i thought it might be the hood or scoop. what did you do to fix it?
