Lower control arm bushing sizes???

In connection to an earlier post, how do i know what size Lower conrol arm bushings i need for my car? There is a choice of 1 7/16", 1 9/16" or from a different brand, 1.4375" OD, 1.5625" OD. Any ideas? I have a 68 GT with a 302 by the way.

So far in the bushing department i'm ordering polyurethane coil spring insulators, spring perches, End Link and frame braket bushings come with the 1" sway bar and finally a leaf spring bushing kit.

Is this all i need to get for a descent handling upgrade or are there other bushings i'm missing out on?

PS. which rate for front coils is better for street driving, 550 or 620. Depending on retailer the rate varies.

If your lower control arms are the originals, then I'd highly recommend changing the whole arm, not just the bushing. This also applies to all front suspension parts. Especially if you're going for a performance oriented upgrade. Those parts get weak with age and new parts are priced to where it doesn't pay to keep the originals.

I agree with D.Hearne. You will be better off replacing the whole upper and lower control arms, especially if they're originals. I would recommend the whole suspension kit offered by several Mustang Vendors - so you wouldn't have to worry what's missing. I got a super suspension kit from Laurel Mountain Mustang and it was everything I needed to replace front and back including coil springs and leaf springs. Depending on which kits, some vendors do throw in handling kit, like 1" sway bars, 3/4" rear sway bars, Monte Carlo bar, KYB shocks...

yes, had a look, they're good value, but...

they offer 3 or 4 bolt versions of the upper control arms. What does this mean, are there 2 types or is it down to personal taste? ie. does it depend on how my car is set up now?

I would suggest the 4 bolt version - they're stronger. Some stick with 3 bolt version just for original sake.

I believe the 68's used the later 4 bolt versions.
