Lowered stang? (with the eibach prokit)-- come in!

I finally got my car so it can hit the streets again and I took it out of the driveway and things weren't looking to hot. I did the eibach prokit all around on my car and when I hit the brakes for the first time the nose dove down a bit and my tires rubbed HARD on the fender well. I have a 5 lug setup on my car with the sn95 spindles, Strange adj struts, all new a frame bushings, steeda x2 balljoints (spring lifts are in place), 235/45/17 tires, and the prokit as I previously said. Why the hell does my tire rub so hard? I do remember my stock springs having a bottom rubber boot on the springs which I decided to leave off since I've never seen them before... Could that be the reason why its hitting so hard? That still seems like it could be a help to have put back in but its not nearly and 1/8 of an inch thick, probably even less than that when compressed. Currently if 2 people jump in my car right now the tires are just about on the fender well. What did I do wrong?

When I did my springs I put the spacers that came with the x2's then the top bushing then the springs in the perch... why is this all bukaked and hitting my wheel well?

My plans are to go pickup a set of nitto 225/40/17's, adj the struts so they are rock solid, and pop that rubber boot back on the bottom but I still think it might hit... any ideas? Anyone else have this problem?

Don't the sn95 spindles make your wheels stick out further requiring a larger backspacing wheel? What wheels do you have?

No. That would be the 96+ spindles. 94-95 keep stock track width.

You stock isolators are probably worn out. Your new springs should have come with some good rubber ones, but if not, then try ordering some and see if that makes a difference.

You mean the top isolators right? Anyone know what the bottom piece is? It looks like a boot that goes about 1/3 of the way around the bottom coil.. I didn't replace it since it was worn and I've never seen a rubber in that spot before... I'll buy new top isolators when I pull the springs out. Thanks for the idea.

I'll try and pick up new top isolators and those bottom pieces and with the new tires I hope it all works since it isn't drivable right now. I only drove it in 1st before I knew it was that bad so it didn't do any damage or anything.

BTW I have the cobra rims.. I don't know the backspacing for sure but it does seem to stick out a bit more then stock... Thats not really the problem though the entire tire lays almost flat on the inside fender well... Basically the top of the tire touches the entire well... not just the lip, its all of it. Thats why I was worried.

You need to install the bottom and top isolators

Yep I'd make sure your top and bottom spring isolators are not rotten

Also, you might need to roll the fenders, or dial in a more agressive alignment

With slightly rolled fenders and neg 3 degrees of camber I'm running 245/45/17 azeni's with no rubbing. I'm using the FRPP C springs though, not the prokit. Both lower the car about the same amount

those bottom isolators are important...that would make about a .5 inch difference. Also i think 235/45/17 are actually smaller than the stock size arent they? yea by about .5 inches. So it seems like something else must be amiss?

A 1/2 inch would be near perfect. I guess its time to pull those springs back out and redo that... what a bitch it was too BTW my car needs an alignment also since I just put the kmember in and all new struts and stuff so that might also be part of my horrible rubbing problem also. Thanks for all the info though. :SNSign:

What kind of K-member? some will extend your wheel base and require rolling the fenders.

stock I just had it out during my motor swap... but when it was out the top plates with the caster settings got moved around so its all funky now.
