When I lowered my '96 to that dim. I had no problem with bump steer or anything, just handled sweet. You might look into offset steering rack bushings, if you're really worry about it. I think it'll raise the rack about .25-.31". Might be worth your piece of mind and are easy to install. However, you'll have to do the alignment again, so I'd hold off until you get new tires, and wheel alignment.

My ride is smooth and tight (everything i expected it to be) I just don't wana stress out the tierods at all. If it won't hurt them, It aint hurting me. I'll leave it till i get new ties and 18s
