What is the best and cheapest place to buy lowering blocks for my 68 coupe with 8" rear? I know this is not the best way to lower the vehicle, but it will have to suffice until funds will allow better leafs...

go to a local off road shop and find cast steel blocks instead of the cast aluminum junk. The ones from an off road place should also be tappered so the pinion angle won't change to the point it will cause horrible drive line vibration.

Unfortunately, "best" and "cheapest" are usually mutually exclusive terms. But for the money, Mustangs Unlimited has solid 1" blocks
http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=LB1X+01

You might have to buy longer U bolts and I don't know if they're included in the deal. NPD also sells 1" lowering blocks but they're not solid but U bolts are included, all for about $30. Good luck...
