I would just like everyones input on their experience with the 1" lowering springs. I am getting ready to partially rebuild my front end...roller perches, upper bll joints and shafts...I want to my tire to at least be even with the wheel well, maybe even a little bit tucked. I have 225/45-17 up front. anyone who has used these springs, how was the height compared to the worn out stock springs. right now mine have about 2" gap from the top of the tire to the wheel well. I would rather not have to take the springs back out later and cut them, it would be better to try and hit it right the first time, and I know that it will settle later, but i thought that I could get your guys experience...my car has a 302 with and alunimum intake, poer steering and a/c, so this should give you an idea of weight on the front...also if anyone has pics, that would be good too...
 
I have just installed the 1" lowering 620lb.. springs. I have heard of guys who install stock type springs and the the frond end sat 3" higher and looked stupid!

So I bought the 1"00 lowering springs in an effort to keep things the same. I would up lowering the initial stance by almost an inch. I was sitting a little high in the front even with new leaf springs in the rear, so now the end result is that it's level and slightly lower.
 
i have the 1" lowered 620 lb. springs on my 65, also with 45 series 17's (215) and it sits just right, IMHO...this coupled with the 1" lowered gt comp springs out back, and the 225 45 17's, give it the right stance. i would have gone with 225's all around, but i wanted the front tires just a hair shorter...

Don't try to get it right the first time based on others' opinions as none of our cars are the same. Drive it, let it settle, then decide. I didn't, and I wish I could get my inch back as the bump stop is now .5" away from the frame. Sure looks cool, though, and I've gotten used to it after 10 years. The drop springs aren't hard to remove at all. You remove the wheel, 2 nuts and 2 bolts holding the shock, and pull the spring out by hand.
 
Did my front suspension about a month ago which included a set of 620's. It took me three tries to get the stance I was looking for. First install with 620's actually raised the front end above where the stock sagging springs sat, even after driving around with the new 620's it was too high. Second I cut a quarter of the spring off and after a drive it still sat too high. Last I cut another quarter spring off and finally it sat perfect for me. One benefit of cutting the 620's is that you dont have to compress them to reinstall them at least in my case.

If you cut to much off of your coil springs, you can get Polyurethane Coil Spring Insulator Pads in 1/4", 1/2" or 1" to adjust your ride height back up.

Yeah I thought about that but the car was already aligned, so I just stuck with it. The roads here aren't too bad for such little suspension travel but I know others aren't so lucky.

I cut one coil but I'd recommend 1/2 at a time.
 
does someone have measurements (floor to center of fender) of a lowered mustang? i wanted to do it but seeing as my suspension is 40 yrs old who knows how much it has droppped.

I shoot for about 24.5" at the center of the wheel-well. I know the ride height should be measured on some other point on the car, but the 65/66 GT's I knew of as new cars were around the 24.5" height and I thought that was as good as it gets.
