Does anyone know if I can use the brass looking lugs from my Tri-bar rims on a set of Cobra R style rims, and if so, where can I get the plastic covers that screw over them so the brass color does not conflict with the chrome.....
Or better yet is there a certain Chrome lug that I need or will the generic Autozone one work...

Thanks Bill, I just saw those on Ebay a few minutes ago. I also found a full set of 20 off a 2005 mustang for a lot cheaper but not sure if they are the same, do you know?

i'm not sure about 2005 lugnuts but i know if you go to an autoparts store you can get the same type aftermarket chrome lugnut there just as good as any and it's what i have on my cobra rims see car domain link in signature, and don't forget to get some good locking lugnuts while your there to deter theft if you look closely at wheel pics. in cardomain link i use the open end type locking lugnuts because cap type lugnuts did'nt work properly.

Good info Bill. I went to Detroit today and bought some used 17 x9 rims and just need the lugs. I did stop by Autozone tonight and bought 1. It has a 1/2-20 stamped on it. It matches what you just said. It was 1.99. Tires were ordered two days ago, I needed them no matter what rims I use. So far as the theft issue goes, I keep the Stang garaged along with one pissed off English Mastiff and one psychotic chocolate lab........LOL I baby this car so much I hardly drive it to anyplace that I can't see it. I think I have put a total of 3,000 miles on it this year. But they were fun 3,000 miles. I appreciate the help Bill.

same here with my stang i have had it about 16 months and put about 4000 miles on it and also when you get the lugnuts tighten a few lugs onto the stud without the rim to ensure they bottom out properly i have seen stores sell lugs that are not deep enough, and to ensure proper fit the lug should bottom out hitting wheel hub and not the bolt hitting the top of the cap leaving space between hub and lugnut seat... goodluck.... for a good piece of mind i would get the locking lugnuts you may park outside a hotel on vacation or knock on wood, break down on the highway thieves know 10 minutes+ car alone= a quick $700 or more....

Yeah you are totally correct, I haven't broken down with it yet but with the mods constantly being made it isn't far fetched from happening. I will heed your advice and pick up at least 4. I bought mine in May of 2005 with 59,000 and drove it to visit my family in Virginia twice, this was before any mods except CAI were made. Since then it has been a "stress reliever" and weekend toy if you know what I mean.....No matter what type of day I have it only take about 30 minutes of cruising to forget about anything but the cam and exhaust....

exactly why we own stangs growl of a dual exhaust crusing down the highway with horsepower at our feet and looking good = a good day after a hard day at work or modifying the stang...stressreliever!!!!!!
