Mac Hpipe is LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!

Well guys i just put my new MAC o/r H pipe on after it took me forever, and o man it is sooooooooooooo loud! The pipe and the flows make the 98 stang sound mean, even though we dont have much hp. i was thinking though and i think its kind of toooo loud. I about woke up the whole neighborhood going to work the other morning. So i was thinking about riding over to my local mustang shop and asking if they can place high flow cats on the o/r MAC H. Do any of you know if they can do that, or would it be stupid to even ask em. I really dont want to spend about 400 and some change on a catted H pipe, and i dont really want to put the stock H back on, so do you guys think this can be done, or should i just scrap this idea. If anyone has some info please fill me in on details.......Thanks.

Leave it O/R. You will get use to it after awhile and it will not seem too loud. I have the O/R H-pipe mated to MACs Flowpath mufflers (that are a little louder than Flowmaster) with my Comp Cams and this a pretty loud set-up. Save your money and put it into other mods. Just enjoy your new sound of the Mustang.

If its too loud (which I can't see it being) then I'd get new mufflers rather than putting cats in ..that would be expensive and pretty much pointless. If you like the sound, you can just get quieter flowmasters - delta flows or 3 chambers ...maybe some dynomax super turbos ...they sound really good but not too loud.

I thought it was to loud when I first got the pipe on their, now its not as bad if your just crusing along at 35-45 mph till you get on it then its badass. Keep it like that...

I was in the same boat you are when i put mine on, now i want it to be louder. Im thinking of going to Mac LTs with an O/R H and possibly American Thunder, but anyway you will get use to it.

Great. I wasn't too thrilled when I found out that I was going to look at a blue car until I saw it in person. The metallic in the paint really makes it shine. Anyway like I said earlier thou you will get used to it and soon going to want it louder. That is what happen to me.

Quiet when you need them to be quiet. Loud when you want them to be loud.

I put Hi Flow cats on my MAC Pro Chamber with 2 chamber Flows and that quieted the car down a bit internally. Car still sounds good on the outside, and when you get on it it still rocks like nobodies business.

Is the Mac stuff not built as well, or why is it reliatively cheap?

Also, has anyone ever heard a Mac H with either Magnapacks or Borla Stingers? I don't mind it being loud but I absolutely MUST have a good tone.

I wasnt expecting the Mac o/r H I bought to be very good because of past experiences with MAC products BUT the hpipe fit like a glove and had no leaks whatsoever and sounds like freakin beast. Total time on my back was less than 2 hours including remaoval of factory pipe. I let other people drive it so I can hear it and it sounds like a beast. It does not, however , compare to the sound of the Dr gas with 2 ch flows setup I once had.

My vote is with sacstoy02gt and go with the 3 chamber flows. You will have the nice low burble at idle and low rpms and loud when you get on it. Should quiet down the drone quite a bit.

it appears to be the same material as the factory tailpipes SO I would hope it lasts for more than a year or two. only time will tell BUT for 50 bucks, I couldnt go wrong

Night and day difference. People say the Xs are raspy, it wasnt to me. the car sounded like a NASCAR with the Dr GAs unit. To me there was also a noticeable SOTP difference, others may argue this. I really like the Dr GAs setup BUT I didnt want to have to purchase the unit and spend even more for a good muffler shop to construct the rest of it. We went through several hours fitting it so it wouldnt leak and the MAC is complete and fit like a glove no leaks. I did replace the pass side manifold/hpipe gasket and tightened everything by hand, no impact wrench. I am impressed with the MAC piece overall.
