I know someone here has to be running these things, so I thought I would ask. I have a delima with the Mac 1 5/8" direct fit long tube headers and their 2 1/2" off road h-pipe. For some reason, my driver's side header, after the h-pipe is installed is pulled over toward the center of the car about an inch, causing the h-pipe, once installed, to rest right onto the crossmember. Now as you can imagine, with the exhaust sitting right on a rigid part of the car, what kind of vibration this thing makes, plus my car is not stock, so the engine really lopes and just makes for a very unpleasant drive. The power is awesome, but the vibration sucks. I have thought about going back to shorty headers just to avoid this, but I really hate to waste more money. By the way, my car is a 5 speed, so could I maybe have the wrong headers or h-pipe? I have contacted Mac directly, but so far, they can't help me. Anybody else out there with these same issues? By the way, my headers, I was told were for an automatic, but I had a C-4 in the car when they were installed, and it still did the same thing. Later, I was told they were for a 5 speed car. So what gives, I have had both transmissions with this same exhaust set up, and with both, it was exactly the same. If you guys can help, that would be great.

Mine touch off as well..I am considering a pry bar and some elbow grease to "persuade" it over about 1/2 or as much as possible. If that fails I will be looking into exhaust shops..but I refuse to leave or give my keys to anyone but me,myself,and I..so that will be a last resort.
MAC are about the worse fitting set of headers you can buy, but since you already have them, that advice doesn't help. I'd take it to an exhaust shop, tell them you dont want to do anything, but could they just look at it. They'll tell you what the problem is and then you can judge if you can fix it.
Well I finally got a repsonse from Mac, they said the crossmember should have the larger/taller hump on the driver's side? Mine is on the passenger's side. Plus they sent me a pic of the headers I should have, and mine match those, except for the sides. Mine look opposite of what theirs does. My driver's looks like their passenger's, and same for the other side. What the F***? I have had good luck with Mac in the past, and their short tube headers with off road h-pipe, but these long tube's suck, or maybe it's just because it's Mac, I don't know but it's pissing me off.

They make good power because they have large collectors. But with the way they fit and the problems they have I would look elsewhere.Wknd_Warrior said:Agreed, I have them too... bad fit. Seem make good power though.
BBK's seem to fit very well and have a 1 peice flange but the collectors are smaller so you have to open them up a little. But it beats dealing with the headaches MAC's have.
I have Mac 1 5/8 longtubes on mine with the pro-chamber mid pipe. Only needed a little convincing to get to fit. So far it's been problem free and sounds great. If they are new, I would send them back and get a new set. I've had to send some things back to Mac before and they work with you. Anytime you start bolting aftermarket engineered parts on, there is going to be issues for sure..

I have them too. Worst parts that I put on my car and I rebuilt the ENTIRE car with brand new parts. I'll never buy their headers again (1-3/4") but would buy their 2-1/2" off road H-pipe and 2-1/2" cat back system (those fit perfectly.)
