Anyone else ever one of their primaries bump into the steering knunkle on their long tubes? It's just kinda annoying, and I really need to take them off and dent the pipe in so it doesn't contact anymore. But I'm just curious if it's like that on a lot of their long tubes. BTW, Mac h pipes DO NOT fit T56's. I had to learn that the hard way, and had to modify a BBK one.

Jegs sells a torque link in their mustang section for around $50, bolts to where sway is. That should solve them hitting, that is only if they hit when motor torques?

Basically, especially when I turn and give it some gas, cuz I think the steering knuckle is in JUST the right spot. Which for right now means no cool smokey powerslides. Thanks for the thoughts guys.

I'll tell you what...my lomgtube, prochamber, flo-path mufflers install has been a nightmare. My headers were a nightmare ( I have a question...two primaries go under my steering column and two promaries go over my steering column...meaning, I had to take it out to install the headers...is it possible that is a 94-95 set of headers?..anyway, the headers in, and I go to bolt up the Prochamber and it doesn't match. The headers and 16 inches across from centerpoint to centerpoint and the Prochamber is 14 inches. I'm pulling my hair out.

I had a set of MAC shorties and long tubes on my 87. Both sets of headers rubbed my steering shaft rather bad. I will never buy another product from that company again.

Where did you get your parts? This seems to be a common problem i hear from "MAC complainers" (no offense) about things not lining up, and it seems like their parts just dont match, not because of poor fitment either. I bought my parts from a local speed shop from a guy who races a 9 second Mustang, so he knew exactly what to order and got me just what i needed.

I did however, have to remove the steering shaft, and you're right it goes right through the middle of the 4 tubes, but i have no rubbing. I'll admit getting them on was very tough, but that's because i didnt read the directions like a dumby and tried to put them in from the TOP instead of the bottom. I managed to get the driver's side in from the top, then read the instructions, then slid the passenger side in like it was greased in butter.

As for the Pro Chamber not matching up with the headers, it sounds like either your headers are for a 351W or your Pro Chamber just isnt for a Mustang if you've got a full 2 inches of difference. 351Ws are wider, which could make the difference in width. I'd call whoever you bought those from and double check.

I dont get it really....i'm by no means sticking up for MAC, i'm just one guy in the mix of 1000s who complain about their stuff, but they're still doing business strong so someone's getting good products. This header install on my car makes my 12th MAC specific Mustang header/midpipe/catback installation, and every one has been seamless and fit flawlessly. My only gripe about their stuff is actually what makes them so easy to install, being that they're bolt ons, you have to retighten them every few miles when you first install them to get them to clamp down tight enough unless you use some kind of thread locker. Other than that, for the price i dont think you can beat'em.

If money were nothing i'd buy something else, simply on a "this is more racey and exotic" standpoint, but i still cant complain about any honest tech problems from MAC.

Ever thought of a Flaming River replacement steering shaft that eliminates the rag joint you're having problems with? Sells for approx. $150.00

Up until this point, I've had nothing but good things to say about MAC stuff, but after this, i don't think I'll ever buy anymore exhaust stuff from them. Especially after the tech guy told me that there H pipe would fit my 6 speed, and it didn't even come close. I had to modify a BBK one. Oh well, live and learn. Then get Love's.

My BBK long tubes rubbed on my steering knuckle just like you're describing, and I solved the problem with a set of offset rack bushings, which allowed me to move the steering rack towards the drivers tire, completely eliminating the problem for $20. It was a great fix. By the way, I loved my MAC equal length shorties that preceded the BBK long tubes.
