Mac o/r H install

I just received my o/r h yesterday and will be having it installed tomorrow. I am taking it to a back woods muffler shop and I'm not sure how knowledgleable they are, so I have a few questions before I go. The h pipe came in two pieces with the split in the h. Do these need to be welded together, or will one sliding inside the other be sufficient? Also, the pipe came with only one paper gasket. Which side does it go on? I already have the napa stud kit.

I think the gasket is for the passenger side for the connection to the manifold. I did not use the paper one I used the stock one it is made of metal. My offroad mac h pipe was all bolt on There was no welding needed.

make sure you have mil eliminators before you put the h pipe on. get the ones from dallas mustang they just plug in . It keeps your check engine from comming on. the car can tell when you remove the cats , so get the mil's.

I am getting ready to make this mod also. I am going to go with an offroad h pipe and the force 2 flowmaster after cat. Can this be done in my driveway or will I have to take it to a shop that has a lift?

I have the mil's installed already. I got some splice in ones off of eBay for $10. I couldnt see paying $59 for the plug-ins when you just have to splice two wires together and you get the same result. And to answer ky99gt, yes you can do it yourself as long as you have some mid depth sockets and long extensions with swivels for the passenger side bolts. I met a guy that works at the shop, and he said he will do it for $50. Not worth my time do do it myself.

I was surprised to see the pipe in two pieces. They seem to slide together pretty tight, but I guess it wouldnt hurt to have a weld run around it after it's installed.

I think it would be hard to do with just a jack and stands or even ramps. Im not saying it cant be done but if you can find someone to do it with a lift I would rather pay $80.00 t0 $100.00 for some one to do it.

I installed my midpipe and catback myself in the driveway. I used 2 jack stands and a jack. It is very simple. The thing is though I changed my exhaust on my car at least 4 times. (Dr. Gas X, Prochamber, Bassani, and MAC) I have down where I can change the midpipe in 15 minutes.

I advise you to get the metal gasket for the passenger side manifold. The paper one will burn up in a couple of months. The two piece design is to help with installation. All you need to do is slip it over. No welding or clamping is necessary. Enjoy the new sound you will have with the o/r pipe.
