This has been settled for years. A 351W was commonly used on H code Mustangs (and other Fords) in '70. I can also tell you my '70 Mach had a 351 Windsor when I bought it in '88, and it appeared to be absolutely original (except for the water pump). The date codes on the block and heads were appropriately dated for the build date of my car.

351carlo, I have an original 351w Mach 1. "Dearborn built" around Oct 1969 with a DSO of 71. I bought this car in 1986,and it had the original driveline. Also my brother owned a 1970 fastback with a 351w 2bbl, also dearborn built with a DSO of 71. His car had the factory shaker, (on my car now) with hood stripes but no hood pins. He bought the car from the original owner in the early 80's. The car was almost as "delivered". It even had the keeper nuts on the strut rods, something i have not ever seen on another car except Perkins' Boss 302. FWIW, there are many survivor 1970 mustangs with 351 Windsors, at least around here in SoCal. Be advised, if ford ever makes good with my 999 report I can post it for you to see. For now you'll just have to take my word for it.

I also have a 70 mach "H" code and it has the original VIN matching 351w block, and yes some cars had the VIN stamped on the block. "H" code cars were windsors and "M" code cars are clevelands, from what i have seen anyways.

I'm not a doubter, I just hadn't seen any. Always looking for evidence!

I have a 70 H code. It's a Cleveland. Looks like just as bnickel said, some early 351 cars were 2v windsors.
