where is the best place to start when moddin 03' Mach 1...so far ordered flowmaster AT catback and BBK offroad X pipe...thinking about going 4.10's and pro 5.0 short throw...any other good mods that will make a big difference without spending a million? also....does anyone make a cold air intake? or go K&N drop in?

also...what do these run in 1/4 all stock?

The exhaust is a good start. The shifter is more a driver enhancement, but a good choice. Gearing helps, but I'm not too sure how much help 4.10's will be, I would consider 4.30's instead. Then, of course, you will need a speedo calibrator to fix that problem. Cold air intake? It's that black thing coming through the hood!

Bone stock, they are good for low to mid 13's at 103-106 in the quarter. Some people have even claimed high 12's at 107+! My personal experience was a 13.19 @105.

I agree with TR03Mach1 about the gears. You should probably go with 4.10's or 4.30's. If you are a 5sp and redline @ 6800 I personally would go with 4.30's, however if you do alot of highway driving (like alot) the 4.10's would probably be more to your liking. I get about 275 to 300 miles out of a tank with my 4.10's and that is in town driving 40 miles a day to work and back and where ever else. If you are not going to stay N/A then I would keep the 3.55's. Long tube Headers benefit alot too. That is going to be my next mod, though I really do need to get shifter but that is a different issue (as I pray to the ruthless Ford god asking for a tsb for my tranny ).

so basically you guys are saying to put in a drop in K&N instead of the gay paper filter...and call it a day.

as for gearing...any idea what i would be twisted for R's at 70mph with 410's and 430's? any idea where the car makes peak power? i know the factory brochures say 305hp @5800 rpm's....but should i be twisted to 6800? any other good ideas for inexpensive bolt ons?

car is 5 spd.

With the .62 5th at 70mph the car only turns 2442 rpm vs 2329 for the 4.10

The car makes peak HP between 4800-6200
