Well I've had the car for about 2 months now but I just started to drive it. When the car was in the garage I heard a quiet ticking from the drivers side head. I thought it was just breaking in so I didn't think twice about it. I took the car out and drove it around a bit and the ticking got louder. I was reading over on the mach1registry and a lot of these cars are having this problem with the ticking, so now I'm really peessed off!!! I brought the car to the dealer today and a tech took a look at it. He said that the sound is pretty bad and he advised me to take a loaner car because my car was going to be out for a while. So here I wait for them to call me when they have a loaner avail. The car only has 350 miles on it an already they need to rip into it....this is not good. I've been reading that a lot of Mach's are getting new heads, engines, and some whole new cars. What is the deal with these cars, and what the heck is the ticking noise? If they have to replace the head will the car run the same?

Bad luck man.. Seems like your dealer is not there to rip you off and will take care of you. I haven't heard anything excessive about mach problems in ticking (although I have heard a few)

I dont know if your post is legit or not...sure seems troll like to me. But that being said i've driven a mach 1 and they are simply badass. I've NEVER heard of anyone having problems with their 4v heads, and moreover no problems at all. There will always be a stray few that have problems of fords mercedes lexus whatever brand. I find it extremely hard to believe you've "been reading that a lot of Mach's are getting new heads, engines, and some whole new cars." Perhaps you would like to dig up some of these huge complaint posts?

The ticking sound you speak of could very well be an exhaust leak. On my GT I noticed a flaw in the metal that could have possibly become an exhaust leak on my stock exhaust overtime. Not sure if this has ever happened before but metal can have flaws in its processing just like plastic or anything else.

In any case, from my experience they are very solid cars and also a much nicer package than a standard GT.

This is the first time I've been called a troll.....WTF. I think you need to take a step back and maybe think before you write. Here is a post about the tick http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12829 just "dug one up". :nonono: :notnice:

lol, the heads do tick. Mine is pretty loud and the dealer says its normal. Consider yourself lucky you have a decent dealership. There is even a TSB for it. DELOS if you want i can forward you all up to date TSB's for the machs (including one for the tick kirkyg)

 Dude - he's been here for like two years, had a GT before his Mach1. Before you call someone a troll do a search and check his/her posts out.

Delos02gt - sorry to hear about the 'tick'. I hope the dealer takes care of you. :(

my appologies dude. I didn't look to see how many posts you had or when your account was created. Your post was just written in a manner that made it look like so many that we get on here by ls1 boyz and import guys on here trying to make fords look bad etc.

I'm sorry your having trouble with your vehicle and im sure the dealer will get it straightened out. I will say though this is the first thing i've heard about a ticking problem on a 4v. The 2v 01-03 build 4.6L had a ticking issue in some vehicles that was in a TSB.

Just remember you can always find someone on the net complaining about a sound they heard but that doesn't mean its widespread. Good luck on getting your car fixed.
