So my spoiler was vandalized several months back, and I am trying to decide between 2 options.

1) Get stock 2001 rear spoiler repaired and repainted
2) Purchase and install Mach 1 rear spoiler in flat black

Now, I still need to get an estimate on the repair, so I don't know about the specific cost yet. I also do not know if the Mach 1 spoiler will fit the 2001 V6, but I assume it will as they look identical to me, I could be wrong though.

Secondly, I have not been able to find the Mach 1 rear spoiler anywhere online at all, so I am going to call Ford tomorrow and see if they would be able to get one and for how much. The only thing I've seen online is the entire deck lid for sale with the spoiler for like 400 bucks, and that is NOT an option.

Also, how do you think the flat black mach 1 spoiler would look on a performance red 2001? I have the black side stripes, grille delete, and front chin anyway, so my car is definitely accented all over with black. Any thoughts or advice on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I was just browsing through Ford's online catalog, and found that just the spoiler was ranging from $300-$400 depending on the color (these weren't the MSRPs... just sale prices). Flat black wasn't listed, no surprise there... Your color/year combo was listed at $535.42 MSRP, and $401.57 sale.

Your best bet is to ask the Ford people if it will even fit on your car when you call them and then talk price... I'm afraid it won't be cheap either way

It may be worth looking through some bone yards for front end wrecks if money is really a big issue.

I think that price you found is for the entire rear trunk lid. I only need the spoiler. NO chance I'm dropping 500+ for just the spoiler.

Attached is what I was looking at. One is just the spoiler, the other is the trunk lid with and w/o the spoiler. That's just what they listed..... best if you checked it out for yourself.

I don't think that mounting is any more difficult than redrilling a couple of holes. As far as a Mach 1 spoiler, just get the cheapest one you can find off a local mustang board and have it painted satin black.

Umm...bondo and respray. Any good bodyshop could do it without anyone being able to tell. Shouldn't be more than a couple hundred $$$.

If money is an issue, you can use plugs temporarily.

I really don't want to delete the spoiler. Again, like I said I will either get it fixed, or get a stock Mach 1 spoiler to replace it. If I could get the Satin black mach 1 spoiler, i'll do it. If not, oh well and I'll get it fixed.

Did you call Ford yet? If so, what are they charging?
